My name is Harper Apple, and people say I’m rotten to the core.

I’m not the only one.

The Dolce boys aren’t just dangerous, privileged, rich alphaholes. They’re a gang of three psychopaths backed by a pack of enablers and worshipped by their fangirls.

And I want in.

When I witness their unhinged, shocking violence firsthand, I know I can’t let them continue to ruin lives the way they’ve done for the past few years. I have to stop them. If they’re too powerful to be taken down by the founders of the town, though, how can one girl from the wrong side of the tracks stand a chance?
The answer is easy.

It has to be an inside job.

They’re not about to open their exclusive circle to the likes of me, but if I play my cards just right, I might just get in with the Dolce boys. But what can a girl with nothing to lose offer a boy who has everything?

And when I find out, will I be willing to pay the price of admission?

This is book 2 in a series and cannot be read on its own. It contains triggering material and is recommended for readers 18+.

STORY:
This is the continuation of the first book, Bad Apple. As the story continues I got to see Royal being human. But that lasted but a minute. His obsession with Apple, that he tries to deny, is what I enjoy seeing. Like book 1, he is still dark, mysterious and very intense. Apple is known as trailer trash to everyone. She is strong when she needs to be but still has weak tendencies, especially when it comes to Royal, although she is forced to be at his side constantly. The plot of the story unfolds a bit, as in book 1, I was unsure how things will pan out and where the storyline was going. I look forward to book 3 as the ending was like cold water dunked on my head. My first thought was that scene with Colt, gagging. Also, I thought I knew who Mr.D was but after book 2, still do not know.

CHEMISTRY:
Before the story starts, the author notes the dark contents within the story. This includes the sexual nature as well. So be mindful before diving into the story.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS
Duke and Baron - Royal’s twin brothers. Still smutty minded, and they are always at Royal’s side.

Mr. Dolce - what a creep. He is definitely not getting father of the year award anytime soon.

Mr.D - he is like creep#2

There were a few more characters, but no one else really stands out a lot in book 2.

Overall, I still find the storyline fascinating and I’m curious to see how it all plays out. And who in the hell is MR.D!?! , this is why I hate cliffhangers but, what else can you do but wait.

**Triggers: violence, non con and rough/anger sexual content.

***I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read and hope this review was helpful.

I am struck!

Continuation from book 1, this story delves more into the interactions and the uncharacteristic, love-to-hate relationship between Harper and Royal -- Harper portraying more warm feelings toward Royal, even as he calls her his plaything, and Royal seemingly, angrily drawn to Harper. We also come to understand more about Dolce boys, Royal and his brothers, Baron and Duke. A mysterious Mr. D is still in the picture. But what games are they playing? This story is written in the two main characters' points of view with poetic interludes in between chapters.

Harper remained a fierce, resilient, and determined woman against Royal who was deliciously broody, dominant and violently possessive. A great set of supporting characters provided a bit of insight into character motivations, but mainly contributed to the feeling of overall troubled undercurrent in the book. There is a whisper of influence of former series characters, the defeated Darlings. Definitely makes for a more enriching, emotional experience to read Willow Heights Prep Academy first. North vs. south, affluent vs. underprivileged, their divide and rivalry abounds, symbolic of Harper and Royal's romantic sparing.

This plot contained mystery and a bit of suspense, giving angst to not knowing what to expect as appearances were deceiving, behaviors seemingly at odds with words. And as such, the main characters' biting chemistry contributed to their gripping and noteworthy sexual tension built over the course of the storyline. Their chemistry was so thick, so tangible it was incendiary; love scenes were passionate, feral when the sparks finally ignited.

Though not especially dark by my standards, other will find dark themes in this storyline; this book is definitely darker than book 1. For me, it was gloriously, hauntingly, entertaining with its tenebrous and gritty tones, from one of the more beautiful and pivotal scenes at the bridge, demonstrating Harper and Royal's volatile relationship, to their fiery encounters. Motivations remained unclear until a significant reveal in the explosive cliffhanger. I loved the characters and the story, and can't wait until book 3.

“I could blame them for being sociopaths, for the assault itself, but they’ve never hidden who they are. I know. They warned me. Everyone warned me. Can I blame a scorpion for having venom? Or myself for reaching in to pet it?

Book two continues on with Royal and Harper’s intense relationship with each other.
And by relationship I mean ownership.
“I could kill you right now, sweetheart”, he says, that word sounding like a threat every time he uses it. “Your life belongs to me now. I can decide to end it at any time. You need to remember that when you’re with me. Remember that every time I wrap my hand around your neck, I could choose to kill you, or kiss you. And what I do is up to me, not you. I decide for you, answer for you. Do you understand that?“

I feel like in book 2, we definitely see Royal showing the slightest flicker of true emotion. While technically this is a new series, starting with Bad Apple, I would seriously implore and beg everyone to start reading at Willow Heights Prep Academy: The Elite. That is a series where you really get a full understanding of this world and Royals family. It will give you the entire backstory on why he is such a “Brutal Boy”. And it’s not until this book that you understand why he has so much hatred for Harper Apple. We never understood fully until this book at the end. And it is one hell of a plot twist!

Royal It’s a very complicated character because he has horrible inner turmoil and underneath it all I think it really boils down to guilt over what happened to his sister. Again you find that out in The Elite series. But I feel like in this book, Brutal Boy, there are barriers that are breaking down the only Harper Apple has been known to do.
“I need her like a fix. It won’t stop me from destroying her, but it means I’ll love every moment of the destruction, even if it destroys me too. I fucking hope it does.”

So we know from book one at Harper Apple comes from extreme poverty and the only reason why she is in this Prep Academy was because she got a full scholarship paid from a mysterious person online. In exchange for the scholarship that she so desperately wanted, she has to find information on Royal’s family, the Dolces. We still have no idea who is behind the computer. I absolutely love the mystery over not exactly knowing who it is yet. I have my suspicions but I’m sure I’m probably wrong.

I would not categorize these books as a romance. Yet at least. It would definitely be more in the realm of “bully”. But - Harper Apple is a character unlike anything I’ve really read before in this sub-genre. She holds her own throughout absolutely everything that has been thrown at her. She is not a whimpering mess that I’ve DNF bully books over. She stands on her own feet, she’s a fighter, (she really is a street fighter) and she has her moments of retaliation.
It’s more of enemies to enemies that have a connection that neither want or understand but also give into it with HOT ass sex.
This series is dark but nowhere near pitch dark. It’s like a gray dark on my scale. There are definitely triggers. There is a warning in the beginning of the book. This is not a fluffy romance. This book is packed full of world building and character building and one big twist at the end of book 2. It is written absolutely beautifully and flawlessly. It will keep your attention. I absolutely love Selena’s writing and I will be impatiently waiting for the rest of the series to come out.

Things are starting to get really interesting. We have some theories thrown around here and there, both in book 1 and 2. There is a revelation at the end of this book. Thank goodness we are starting to get some real answers!!!! 🤓 I'm looking forward to the next book. 🙂

I did prefer the h in book 1, I think she's losing a bit of her bark/spark thanks to the Dolce boys. This book does include Royals pov, which is great and also gives us an insight into what the hell he's thinking. 🤔 Don't think he knows sometimes. I'm not a fan of Daddy Dolce. 😬

Steam wise - there is more talk than action. (Meh). 😕

Enjoy!

Let me start this off by saying: COLT 👏🏻 FUCKING 👏🏻 DESERVED 👏🏻 BETTER 👏🏻

Brutal Boy picks up right where we left off in Bad Apple, and then it’s all downhill from there. I LOOOVED Bad Apple, it was well written and the story hooked you in from the get go, but Brutal Boy has left me a little underwhelmed.

The push and pull between Royal and Harper gave me serious whiplash. One moment they hate each other, he treats her like shit and calls her a whore, and the next he’s possessive and threatens to murder anyone who touches her. Like sir, pick a lane and stay in it. Same goes for Harp, one minute she hates him and everything he’s done to her and is willing to take him down, and the next minute she’s all heart eyes.

The only redeeming bit for me was the secret that was revealed in a cliffhanger that made me chuck my kindle. I’m not happy about, I’m really not. Am I going to read Boys Club? Possibly, just to see how it all ends.

It's so freaking good! If you are a romance reader you understand what I'm getting at. This series has me addicted!

This is a suuuuper slow burn, bully high school romance.

Harper is not your typical female character. She is known as trailer trash and while she may not actually live in a trailer, it’s a fairly accurate description. The bullying is heavy (think Kings of Quarantine) and continues all through both the first and second book.

It’s a little slower & too much high school drama for me, but the storyline is intriguing.

The second book was better than the first but still a lot of the same back and forth. We did finally get some spicy action & I was here for that.

Unsure if I’ll continue the series though.

Whew. That was good. Like #2, I hope it won't be a long wait for #3.

I only have one question- how could Harper do Colton dirty like that? I mean she never gave him another thought not even to check on him. BAD friend.

Loving the push-pull with Royal. Hawt. Glad Royal went back to his alphahole ways when it seemed like he was going to become sappy, sweet after he got some diamond encrusted vag. Happy he's still the anti-hero we love.

As for Harper, she's still all over the place. Contradictory is an understatement. But she makes it work.

Who the f is Mr.D?!?!

“Let me make you as crazy as you make me.”

I’m speechless. For more than one reason.
Their story if so bittersweet I just can’t stop myself from reading.

This book served a lot at seeding their relationship. There’s is going to be so much drama in the next books… I can’t waitttt!!!

“Did you fucking touch my girl?” Royal asks Colt, his voice coming in short burst between blows, as if Colt can answer.

There was still some slight bullying but not as much as the first one. Let’s just say this one made me giggle and swoon more than want to punch his gorgeous dick face.

All I’m going to say is chapter 12.
I was KICKING MY FEET!

With that said, I’m giving it 4.5 instead of 5 stars because plot wise, there wasn’t as much development or twists. Yet I loved reading about them, so they deserve those 4.5 stars for being a page turner.

why is this series so far addictive? it's intense, it's sometimes cringy (maybe because I'm now an adult and the characters are high school age) and I'm kinda living for the bully vibes, I don't really like Royal still because he's so back and fourth on how he feels but it's so good at the same time

Brutal Boy by Selena is a dark high school romance. This is the second book in the Willow Heights Prep Academy: The Exile Series.

The book does come with a caution/warning " It contains triggering material and is recommended for readers 18+."

This is the third book of Selena's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. This series just keeps getting better and better! The chemistry between Royal and Harper are off the charts. The relationship is messed up but you can't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of view throughout the story. It really brought the story to life.

The book does end on an amazing cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next book in the series Boys Club to be released on July 2, 2021 so I can get more of Harper and Royal's story.

I would highly recommend this book if you like dark romances, bully romances, or enemies to lovers.

“I need her like a fix. It won’t stop me from destroying her, but it means I’ll love every moment of the destruction, even if it destroys me too.”

This second book of Selena’s Willow Heights Prep Academy picked up right where Bad Apple left off.

This book is a bit darker and bloodier than Book 1, that’s for sure. I really enjoyed this book much more than Bad Apple because we get a double POV, from both Harper Apple and a Royal Dolce

We get a glimpse behind Royal and why he’s soo macabre and hateful towards Harper. That ending was something else completely. Wow, Selena, you nailed it. What a cliffhanger!

Royal and Harper are serious fire and ice. She pushes his buttons and he retaliate even harder. How much can she take from him? You can tell she’s falling for him as he with her, but it is such a slow burn. I just can’t with the anxiety I have.

Bring on book 3, Boys Club!!

This is such an amazing series. I’m completely captivated by it and the writing

I don’t even know where to begin with these books. I stumbled across Bully Me by sheer luck.

At the time, I was in a proper reading slump. Everything I picked up bored me, and I struggled to reach the finish line.

Selena is a new author for me. I’d never heard of her, nor her books. My expectations were pretty low when I downloaded Crystal’s and Devlin’s stories. I never expected to be sucked into the dark, twisted world of Darling and Dolce drama. It is very rare that an entire series can hold my attention long enough to binge read every book, but Willow Heights absolutely drained the life out of me. Literally. I have lost so much sleep.

I will try really hard to avoid spoilers because I think readers should go into this series blind.

I want to start by saying that these books will not be everyone’s cup of tea. The author didn’t lie. The triggers warned you. The characters are dark, borderline psychotic, mentally unhinged and almost irredeemable. They challenge your forbearance levels and take you down some very uncomfortable roads. I often found myself rooting for them in one breath, then hating them in the next breath.

It started with the Darlings. Devlin, Preston and Colt. They were awful to Crystal Dolce. In fact, they treated everyone who never carried the Darling name like inferiors. Everything was one sickening game of cruel dominance and submissiveness. You never knew if they were lying or genuine or what they had up their sleeve.

Devlin Darling took a liking to his new neighbour, Crystal Dolce. She was the new girl in town with crazy arse brothers, King, Royal, Duke and Baron.

The Dolce family had Mafia ties, but we see very little of that in Bully Me, Betray me and Bury Me because the storyline mostly revolves around the Darlings.

The Dolce boys are here to stake their claim on every segment of the town and its people—Darling hierarchy be-damned. They’ll do anything—and I mean anything—to get to the top (there is a reason for this, thanks to Daddy Dolce). They want every politician and their brother in their pockets to take down the Darling empire, and they won’t stop, even if it kills them.

The Darling family are just as evil, just as stubborn and just as vindictive as the Dolce family. They, too, will do whatever it takes to protect their family name and legacy.

It’s a gritty retelling of Romeo and Juliet, I suppose. Two enemies-to-lovers amidst warring families.

Bury Me ends on a huge, shocking cliffhanger that tips the scales between Dolces and Darlings. All I will say is Devlin and Crystal, with or without their families blessing, found more than love in each other and had to take drastic measures to be happy.

Where do we go after three books of constant chaos? Back to the Darlings, right? Nope. Not even close.

When I started Bad Apple, the sister series of Willow Heights, I did not expect to see the Dolce boys on the throne and the Darlings squashed under their thumbs. I mean, they completely changed the town's dynamics and had every minion in high school marching to their drum. Everyone is terrified of them and rightfully so. These boys take bullying to an entirely new level of what-the-f*ck?!

Royal is the ultimate bully. His brothers, Duke and Baron, are probably the cruellest twins I have ever read in any dark bully romance. The brothers did what was expected of them. They understood the assignment. They tore down the Darling empire and became everyone’s worst nightmare.

I am still reeling from this! I went from absolutely hating Preston and Colt Darling for their sickening behaviour towards the Dolces to rooting for them. I wanted sweet revenge for Crystal, but I was not prepared for the shocking turn of events or the unforgivable Dolce behaviour. All I can say is Colt did not deserve it! Preston did not deserve it!

Insert Harper Apple, the trailer park girl from the wrong side of town with a huge chip on her shoulder, and deservingly so, who lands a scholarship at Willow Heights because Mr D, the philanthropist who she does not know, or has never met, landed in her DM one morning and offered to be her fairy godmother. This man is an opportunist, though. He will help Harper just as long as she checks in on messenger every Friday to give him information on the Dolces. I mean, all the way through, I figured Mr D was Preston Darling, who is finally going to come out of hiding to take down the Dolces and regain control of his hometown. No spoiler. But I never expected Mr D to be the ultimate reveal at the end, like, what even?

Anyway, Harper is a badass heroine. Yeah, she is weak where Royal Dolce is concerned, but she always comes back fighting and gives just as good as she gets. I loved her character and everything she stood for. I loved how, layer by layer, she peeled away Royal’s dark armour until we got to see snippets of the boy we fell in love with in Bully Me—and she did all this while living her worst life, too. I never lost hope. I knew Royal was still in there somewhere. I knew if anyone could reach him and bring him back, it would be Harper. And that girl went through so much to be with Royal. He never deserved her love nor forgiveness, but still, I was rooting for them. These were just two young kids sucked into Daddy Dolces’ gruesome world of revenge and violence.

I could pinpoint everything I loved and hated about these books, but I stand by what I said earlier. If you love dark, bully romance books, Selena is the author for you.

I am gutted the series is over. I never wanted it to end. Even though Selena tied up loose ends, I still want more (yes, I’m a greedy book whore; sue me). I want Colt’s story, Preston’s story, Duke’s story and even Baron, who is beyond redemption. And mostly, I want more of Harper and Royal.

I am not ready to say goodbye to Willow Heights or the Darlings, or the Dolces.

Wow!! What can I say?? As predicted it just gets better!! The spice was more as i thought it would be, the bullying was more as well. It was just everything and more!!

This book has alot of suspence! Has you gripping hold ready for the explosion to happen! You begin to meet more of the characters and get to seenthe bijlgger pictue that there is alot more going on then you seem to think!!

I'm usually pretty good at predicting certain moves in a story but the ending here completely blown my mind I was 100% not expecting that!!

I can not wait get started on book 3!!

Wow this book got even darker than the first and I can see it getting even more dark.

I read this book in a day it was that good, I was hooked from the start of this series. There is so much happening with different twists and turns that you can’t help but carry on reading to find out what happens for then something else to go on 🖤

Royal is a complete dickhead but I love him so much and I’m routing for Harper to break him down piece by piece. The twins and amazing too and the dynamic between them all even though it’s completely toxic makes you want to understand them that much more.

The spice definitely heats up in this book 🥵 but there is also some non con too so don’t read if you have triggers. Everything is heating up though just to drive each other crazy!

That ending though I knew that was coming from the hints here and there but it was still a suprise. I’m dying to find out where all these orders/plans are coming from, I suppose I will only find out by reading more 🖤

I binged both books in 2 days! Brutal boy is the second installment in the Willow Heights Prep Academy. This immediately follows the event of book 1. After a video went viral, Harper had to deal with the aftermath. This meant that Royal's possessiveness got worse than before. I really want to dislike Royal, he's such an asshole, like 90% of the time. Then, there were times where Harper would break down his walls and he became vulnerable and I'm all like "damn it"

One things for sure, the adults in this town are uber creeps (specifically, Mr. Dolce, MrD)

OMG! I was completely blindsided that bombshell that was just dropped. I wasn't expecting that. Can't wait for the next one!

I definitely liked this book more than the first one because you got more i insight into his actions and thoughts. Making you realise that his obsession with her is only growing which can only lead to something really bad or to something good. But gathering by this books ending it is only going to get worse.

I both like this book series and don’t because there is so much aggression and brutality it makes it hard to see a happy ending. Especially with Harper and Royal after everything he has done and will do in the future book how is that suppose to lead into something good by the end?

WOW! The plot is getting so thick I am not sure I see the end zone clearly. After finishing this book I am left shocked, speechless and with so many unanswered questions rolling around in my brain. I am still seething with hate towards certain characters but I see a softening happening with others. This is such a crazy and wild ride.

Harper gets every unimaginable degrading thing thrown at her and still she picks herself up and continues to fight back. She is fierce and I love her strength and resilience. There are times when they almost break her but she surprises everyone by not taking shit and continuing to walk tall.

Royal is still the massive damaged dick that we love but fiercely hate. There is something happening between him and Harper but it is still too early to tell if she is breaking down his walls and getting to him. He has so many secrets that we have no clue about yet, but they are slowly coming to the surface.

Together these two are toxic. Their chemistry is undeniable and utterly explosive and volatile. The push and pull of power between them could eventually destroy them.

Filled with angst, hatred, betrayal, anger and passion, this story continues to keep us readers riveted to our seats with anticipation of what the hell was going to happen next or be revealed. It’s an extremely turbulent rollercoaster ride that will consume you and your emotions will be all over the place. The story is dark, gritty, toxic but thrilling and utterly gripping. The ending left me shocked, gasping for breath and begging for more.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This is definitely getting better, from all the hype and the first three books, I’m sorry to say I was a bit disappointed in Bad Apple, at one stage in the first three I said I was team Dolce, yeah not so much anymore, I miss the old Royal not going to lie.

However at least now I have some answers and I get pieces of the puzzle, so I’m going to keep going.

Also can this author cut Colt some slack please, he’s one of my favourites.

3.5!

Oh wow…like I knew it was going to happen, but I didn’t expect him to be be the one to do it. Maybe I should have, but that whole SA scene was rough.

Seeing it through her eyes…but then when he realised…like what was all that!

This whole book was such a great toxic relationship. You see it become more and more real as they sort out their feelings.

But I know we still good more hell for Harper to go through, and even though technically they aren’t dating. Everything is just so complicated.

Pls check TWs before reading!

Things appear to be getting both worse and better, if anyone can believe that.
Harper is fully immersing herself in this new life, and Royal is drawn to her, but SO angry about it. They each have a mission and they won’t fail, no matter what.

The Plot was better in this!

The plot in this one was much better than the first book.

I really appreciate how dark the book is and that the author places trigger warnings in the beginning.

It is definitely a messed up book, not for those who are hoping for a fluffy outcome. The relationship is abusive, she’s raped and there’s a lot of violence.

Thought she’d be different

I really thought after reading the first book that Harper would be a stronger FMC than Crystal was…clearly not. So tired of the body ‘betraying’ her 🙄.
I’ll continue to read/skim only for a conclusion and Crystal.
AND to find out who is Mr. D

Gahhh! The ending! Seriously!! I’m dead right now. I can not freakin' wait until the next book comes out. This series is 🔥! Hot alpha males, sassy heroine, addicting storyline. All the good book things. The twist and the darkness kept me sucked in until the bitter end. Selena did a fantastic job weaving the highs and lows. Seriously one of the best stories I’ve read in a long time. A reread is definitely in order!

To all the girls out there - No means no there are no if's and but's about it. And if a guy can't respect that RUNNNN.

I could become a millionaire for every time the heroine said /thinks that she is so poor!! Hero as in book 1 a colossal jerk and a rapist.

This is the second book in the Willow Heights Prep Academy: The Exile Series, and the continuation of Royal, and Harper's story. This book continues with the secrets, lies, and twists, and turns. This was a great read, I can't wait to read book two, Royal, and Harper have hot chemistry. This book is mysterious, suspenseful, twisted, intense, and dramatic.

To say Royal and Harper are explosive together would be a understatement, these two are pure fire. It’s rare I like the heroine more than the hero but Harper is just awesome in every way and at times I wanted to punch Royal in the nose! These two had the best push and pull, can’t wait for more
