The Rapture #2

Equilibrium

Rate this book
My name is Ophelia Ekaterina Aster.

Baba Yaga.
Daughter of a Dragon.
A monster.

I never minded the whispers or the screams, because I knew who I was and what I’ve done.
I never minded, until I did.

I sold my soul to the devil and painted the pages of my story with the blood of those who betrayed me. I became the darkness they threw me into, and I destroyed them.
I wouldn’t stop, I couldn’t stop, not now.
Not when everything I worked for was within my reach.

But it all came crashing down when he barged into my life again and threatened to ruin my carefully laid plans. It only took those two words.

“Hello, Persephone.”

He said he wanted me, he said I was his, but how could I trust him when every single person in my life has stabbed me in the back? I wanted to believe him, I wanted to believe that the fairytale I so often dreamed of could become my reality.

But I was wrong.

I should’ve listened to my gut. I should’ve escaped while I still had time, because even though love runs deep, betrayal… it runs much deeper. I guess I didn’t expect it to hurt like this.

I didn’t expect it to turn into just another nightmare.

Equilibrium is the second book in The Rapture series, dealing with dark and violent themes that might be triggering to some, and is therefore not suitable for readers below the age of 18. It is recommended to read Ricochet before Equilibrium. This is not a standalone and it ends on a cliffhanger.

About the author

L.K. Reid

L.K. Reid is a dark romance author who hates slow walkers and people being mean for no reason. She lives with her two cats, Freya and Athena, and she’s still figuring out the whole “adult” thingy.

In her opinion, Halloween should be a public holiday, and she also has a small obsession with all things historical—especially Greek mythology. During high school, she wanted to be an archaeologist, and ended up studying law, but obviously neither one of those professions worked out.

If she isn’t writing, she’s most probably watching horror movies, listening to music, reading, or plotting upcoming books.

Guns always felt impersonal to me. The knowledge that I had to get close in order to use my knives, that I had to look them in the eyes was always thrilling for me.

Talk about a complete 180. Here, we leave the world of assholery and find Storm, a worshiping hero who doesn’t take shit or let the heroine push him around when she gets pissy. Oh yeah talk about satisfaction. As much as I love reading about a jealous hero, reading about a hero trying to make the heroine jealous after she was a bitch to him? Sign me the fuck up.

DONT READ THIS IF YOU’RE PLANNING ON READING THIS SERIES

5- SHE KILLED ME- STARS

My review of Ricochet, back in January, started with these words:
BLIND FURY and SUFFOCATING HATRED.

I thought Equilibrium would have been different, because till the 70% of the book L.K Reid foolished me into thinking that maybe it wouldn't have been that BAD...
I mean, yeah, it was heartbreaking and angsty but i could have manage that....
But she decided to kill me in the last 30% 😭
She literary ripped my heart from my chest!!
So here we are again and all i feel is blind fury, suffocating hatred and aching pain!!

After being "kidnapped" by Storm, Ophelia woke up in the house of Sons of Hades.
Being there is hard for her because it awakes desideres and emotions long forgotten,
and also because of Storm...

They share a deep connection, something inexplicable.

"𝑂𝑛 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑎𝑛𝑒 𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑚𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑙𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑙, 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑎𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑠 𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟"

They are able to quiet the demons from the other.
They are two broken souls who belongs to each others, who need each others.

"... 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑛𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑𝑠 𝑠𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑙𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚, 𝑡𝑜 𝑐𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑚. 𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑟𝑜𝑘𝑒𝑛 𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑠 𝑑𝑒𝑠𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑."

But trust issues and secrets are an awful match, and when those secrets come out, everything goes down .... 💔💔

I love Storm and the other members of the Sons of Hades: they may be criminals but they have a code, they are a family, they are the only light in this darkness.
Ophelia, my broken dragon, shattered my heart with her actions instead, and now i can't help but hate her.
I understand where all that comes from but i cannot forgive her. And i'm honestly terrified about what might happen in Oblivion 🙈🙈

Equilibrium is more introspective than Ricochet, and that's something i loved about It because i really needed to understand more Phee and Storm.
But don't worry angst, action, twist and turns are still present, and they gonna keep you on the edge of your sit!

So no, this book is not good, IT'S FREAKING PHENOMENAL!!
I loved it even if it left me sobbing and with a hole in my chest.
Because L.K Reid made me feel everything they felt; she made me care for them....
And i just hope i'm gonna survive after the end of their story LOL

Secrets and distrust

One of the most feeling dark and gritty love stories I’ve read. Heartache, suspense, passion, these are some of the emotions elicited when reading this story, much more about growth and ties than setting the groundwork and toxicity in book 1.

Team Storm: alpha, tenacious. I loved getting into Storm’s head, bad guy in love with his reluctant soul mate, his queen, and both are flawed characters who seemingly fit. I liked the trek into motorcycle life. I could just hear the roar of the Harleys. While they were certainly not on the right side of the law, they were not fractured, which is what our heroine embodies. They were close family, something Ophelia was not used to. Ophelia: strong, insecure mixed with resolve, feelings of distrust and unworthiness. Lots of unnecessary push from Ophelia. Supporting characters added great depth to the storyline.

A slow burn with too much time ruminating added to denying communication, and the story was extremely slow to progress and didn’t hold my interest. Pages upon pages of prose and inner monologue, this author is not a fan a dialogue, and it shows. Better writing, faster pace and a balance toward more relief to angst, more dialogue and more action, and this would have rated better. The damage of secrets and betrayal, this book was good at getting into your feelings but so overly wordy and slow as to lose interest.

4.5 how could u do that to me stars.

Oooh Lord, I don't know where to begin. I could rant and rave but I already did this in Leila's inbox so that's been taken care of 😂 Love you girl!

After reading Ricochet (book 1) I'm not even sure why I was surprised with the drama that ensued because we all know that was a ride and a half. If you're looking for rainbows and butterflies then don't pick up these books. If you're a fan of jaw dropping, wtf, why would you do this, I'm about to throw my kindle moments then I highly recommend this series.

My ass was firmly planted on the team Storm bus after Ricochet and this book just solidified that. My heart broke for this man, not just from getting his back story but from what went down in the ending of this book.

Ophelia... girl... you had so much emotional growth in this book and I was cheering you on. It was great! And then you had to fck me over and make me want to strangle your ass with what you did at the end. I mean... I'm not over that clearly.

The chemistry with these two was chefs kiss, the plot twists, betrayal, secrets, all of it came at you thick and fast. This is one of those books that will have you feeling ALOT of emotions and you will need someone to vent to. Trust me.

I'll have to say I'm a little suspicious to talk about this book because this universe and these characters Leila create are part of my life now. Ophelia Aster is my whole world, I'll protect her at all costs, my baby!

Equilibrium is a bit different than Ricochet but as good as it. While I was reading my heart was struggling, so much pain and emotions with Phee and everything she was going through after all that happened in book one.
In Ricochet where we have a bloody and revenging story, this second book is more emotional and full of self discovery for our girl.

I really liked this book, we can learn more about Ophelia and we have Storm... I don't know how to describe him because he's my everything hahah okay but seriously, he's so gorgeous and all alpha male super possessive and I loved it.
Phee and Storm as a couple is just FIRE! Their chemistry is spectacular and I had so much fun with them, and the smut whoaaa, thanks Leila.

I can't talk more about the book without spoilers but be prepared when you start reading it and please don't forget to send your therapy bills for Leila, we're creating a group for her readers, because no way someone can keep their mind intact after all this situation and the damn plot twist! The end will kill you, I'm telling you guys.

I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH THIS WORLD AND EVERYONE IN IT. I just want the next book 😩 what have you done LK.!! That ending!
This woman has ripped my heart out and put it back together again. 💔❤️ then ripped it a bit more.! 😂

EQUILIBRIUM BY @L.K

5 ⭐️ MUST READ.
You must read Ricochet first.!

This book picks up where Ricochet finishes. Ophelia is being held captive by Storm. She isn't in a good way. She's confused and heartbroken, the guilt from the life she has lead is consuming her. Storm wants to keep her safe while she wants to be free.
_____________

I feel so different to how I felt when I finish the first book. Ricochet left me in bits, I remember reading it till early hours in the morning and then not being able to sleep, I couldn't stop thinking about it. L.K has a way with words, she is truly an amazing writer. This book definitely has a different feel and setting which I loved, it was more calm, but it being calm didn't take anything away the antsy feelings you get from the story. This series is gripping, she keeps you guessing constantly, this book is full of secrets and twist, these twist hurt my heart a lot in both books, they confused me. They left me speechless.
After that mother f--king ending on Ricochet I needed answers. I had to wait while reading Equilibrium because the answers I needed, she didn't give them away for a while. So while reading this book my anxiety has been high. My heart has been so heavy for the last two days. I absolutely love Kieran and when Storm came into the picture in the first book I wanted him to leave them alone lol. But I can now say L.K has twisted my heart and made me fall in love with storm.

This was his book and his story and it was amazing. It was a slow burn which I loved and I definitely prefer that. I needed to get to know him and you do in this book. He is dark, maybe just as dark as the rest of them. His story is heartbreaking. I definitely want to read more of his past, I'm a bit weird that way, you will know what I mean when you read it. He is hot, I mean super hot 🔥 There are so part in this book that will make you melt.

You see Ophelia at her lowest, her darkest. She in her own head and it's not a good place to be. She can't get over what she's done. He believe she’s can get passed everything but she been through things no one else has. It deep so deep I don't even understand it.
She has an evil soul but it's also so pure. She is one of the most interesting woman I read. There were times when she fucked up massively, but what she did was so needed, She needed it and I BLOODY NEEDED IT TO MOVE ON.

I haven't move on though I've been left with wanting more. I think I'm fulfilled for a little while lol. I can not wait to see what comes next for Ophelia.

I have to say I have fallen in love with the MC. I'm a big fan of ATLAS. I want his book.
The direction this story is going in, is so exciting.

If you still haven't read Ricochet go and read it. It will be the best experience or the worse LOL.

🩸Equilibrium is out May 23rd.

It’s been days since I’ve finished this and I’m still at a loss for words . This book picks up right where Ricochet left off it’s filled with twists and turns secrets lies betrayal the feelings this story has put me through sometimes I want to laugh others I want to scream and throw shit ! I love the character growth for Ophelia in this one but she’s still very guarded and quick to think the worst which leads her to making bad decisions and hurting the people she loves . Storm we get to see what makes him tick he definitely won my heart in this one when Ricochet ended I was still very much team Kieran but not anymore my heart beats for Storm . That ending I didn’t see it coming not even a little there’s a hell of a plot twist in this one and more questions that need answers . L.K. Reid didn’t play around with this story she brought her A game and you’ll just have to read it yourself to find out what happens but it’s bloody it’s twisted it’s steamy af and I can’t wait for more from these crazy twisted characters! Definite must read and definite five stars from me !

Dual-1st person POV - but mostly from FMC, Ophelia
~1st reread: read back in 2021 before I used GR/posted reviews~

This sequel picks right back up after the craziness of book 1. In this book, Ophelia explores her returning feelings that had previously been beaten out of her as well as exploring her new relationship with Storm. And I have to say this - I fucking love Storm. He only has eyes for Ophelia and I love how he is with her. Well other than their mutual misunderstanding at the end, that was annoying. There was a lot of personal growth for Ophelia and while she still has a ways to go, I think she will be a character that will stick with me for a long while. Spice is still there and revelations are made. And holy shit, I really hope this ends up being a why-choose... I want Ophelia to have them all. Ugh. Ends on another massive cliffhanger but thank god book 3 has been released this month (almost 2 years later).

Well fuck. I'm pretty sure L.K. threw down a challenge to absolutely RUIN her readers with book two, and she exceeded it. Equilibrium is a catastrophy of emotions. Ophelia has been the Ice Queen her entire life, never experiencing the feeling of someone who actually gave a fuck about her as a person, instead of how they can use her to their advantage. This feeling she has with Storm, she doesn't know how to handle it. Base instinct tells her to run, get as far away as she can, but for the first time in her life, she wants to try.

𝑰 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒍𝒕 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒅𝒆𝒗𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔... 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒚𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆.

It isn't safe. Her father's threat is closer to home than they are aware of. Storm is keeping things, big things that can change it all. Nothing is as it appears. Ophelia is willing to sacrifice everything for him, but will it be too late once she achieves her goals?

The book starts from where it left off in Ricochet and throughout the first chapters lk goes on showing how the experiences that Ophelia went through affected her and how she feels, we also perceived the beginning of an acceptance of who she really is and this only evolves throughout the book, we are also presented the story of Storm and his point of view 🤩
Right at the beginning, lk weaves a network of secrets, lies and betrayals and you're like "but I want to know the reason for this!" something that she will only give you in the end. The story is full of ups and downs, literally a roller coaster of emotions, and lk has a way with writing that you take to read and can not let go!
As soon as Storm appeared I was afraid because I liked Kieran and I suffered a lot with everything that happened to them both and I thought I would not be able to like Storm just because I was still attached to Kieran, but look ... the chemistry that opheliastorm have is just WOW, there is nothing above them for me.
In summary, this book is perfect and is very VERY worth reading, entering the world of Ophelia is an incredible experience that you can both love and hate lol. I loved the construction of the plot it was something that really surprised me, because when I thought I couldn't have more I had MUCH MORE! And that ending? lk managed to rip my heart out and now i am surviving merely for the next book.

I don't even know where to begin with this book. I started Ricochet a couple of days ago thinking it was just another regular Dark Romance but I WAS WAY WRONG. I planned to take it slow, finish Ricochet and maybe start Equilibrium a couple of days later but I ended up binge reading Ricochet and instantly scrambling to start Equilibrium. And now I can't wait for Oblivion to come out *cue dramatic crying*

I don't know which emotion trumps the others in me right now. The rage? The annoyance? The fury? The pain that's made a permanent home in my chest?

I'm trying very hard to write this review like a rational person and not someone who seems like they belong in a mental asylum but clearly I'm failing.

Equilibrium starts off right where Ricochet ended. After Ophelia gets 'kidnapped' by Storm, she wakes up in the house of Sons of Hades. Of course being there is hard for her mainly due to Storm and the feelings he evokes in her she'd much rather keep buried deep inside. I love Ophelia and Storm together, they need each other and they're just perfect for each other.

And my love for Storm and the other members of Sons of Hades might come from the fact that I love all the men in books that are like them (SPECIFICALLY STORM), I just can't help it its a terrible obsession but one I hope never goes away.

Most of the time when I read books and series, I can predict what's going to happen at the end of the book or even at the end of the series way before it actually happens but this series has me speechless. I don't see it all coming from a mile away. There's so much angst, and lots of twists and turns and although all I feel is so much pain right now and don't know how I'm even going to survive, this book is 101%+ a recommend. Of course you would have to read Ricochet before you dived into this one though and make sure you have a box of tissues near you as well as a pillow to scream into before you start reading *yes I'm trying to be sarcastic but I'm also really serious*

https://emozionidicarta2020.blogspot....

Left Me Scared and I Love It!
5 stars!
I wanted him to own me, and I wanted to own him.

L.K. just completely left me speechless again. EQ picks up right after Ricochet, but is Ophelia still the same Ophelia we read, now that Storm has her?

Whatever expectations or theories with how book 2 was gonna go, in terms of how Storm and Ophelia were gonna be together, got COMPLETELY thrown out the window, and all in the best ways. No complaints from me, I was sucked in seeing this completely different world.

We’re more fully introduced with the Sons of Hades, learning all these new and intriguing characters. We get to see more of Storm, and how and what makes him tick. Let me just tell you, if this man doesn’t worm his way into your heart… he stole mine. BIG time. Storm is just precious and as the story unravels, you learn more about his heartbreaking upbringing, that comes with a little twist. Ophelia on the other hand, I was really loving this new side we were seeing. Those walls were coming down, but Ophelia being trigger happy, does the unthinkable (but is it really surprising?). Forgiveness only goes so far, and I’ve maxed out mine for her.

Storm and Ophelia just work. They understand each other like no other, being able to find refuge in one another, quieting those inner thoughts, those nightmares, even when the person they’re with is a walking nightmare. EQ breaks out a little bit the typical dark romance, and I find that's a good thing and I really, really enjoyed that. I’m not saying how, but when you read book one, and then this, you’ll see.

There’s tons of drama, angst, twists and turns, action, and outright hot steaming tension that’ll leave you satisfied. I loved every side character and the slow progression of the friendships building. All of them really are a family, especially after what Storm hid. And I think L.K has become the queen of cliffies, cause yelling will be involved; stress and anxiety will be at its peak. I saw it coming, but I didn’t want to believe it. But once again, I’m in love with this series even more and… #teamstorm.

4,5/5. L.K Reid proves once again that she’s an excellent writer and she belongs in the dark romance community. If I had to describe my experience reading equilibrium would probably be “what a ride”. I can’t talk about the book in depth because this is the second one in a series and it’s not out yet but I will highly recommend everyone to start it now. Equilibrium is dark, twisted and gritty. Ophelia is a really complex character with her own secrets and a lot of layers that the author explores even more on this second installment. I couldn’t put it down and all the twists took me by surprise. The relationship in this book is great and we get some up and downs but I love how the author wrote this couple. They feel raw, real and honest. This book was really great and it solidifies my idea that this series is one of the greatest dark romances out there. I can’t recommend it enough and I can’t wait to read the next one!

So, I finished this amazing novel yesterday, and had to wait to write my review I was so emotionally drained! (I'm reading a romcom next!!!)

Ms. Reid's characters jump from the pages into your heart, mind and soul!

I was absolutely floored by Storm's story! Cry, OMG, yes!

Ophelia, I don't even know what to say!

Get a glass of wine, a comfortable chair, and several undisturbed hours; you are not going to want to put this down, and then you'll be distraught you have to wait for the next!

JUST AMAZING WRITING!

Equilibrium by L.K. Reid is dark assassin romance. This is the second book in the Rapture series.

The book comes with a caution "Equilibrium is the second book in The Rapture series, dealing with dark and violent themes that might be triggering to some, and is therefore not suitable for readers below the age of 18. It is recommended to read Ricochet before Equilibrium. This is not a standalone and it ends on a cliffhanger."

This is Leila's debut series and she keeps knocking it out of the park. I really enjoyed getting Storm and Ophelia's points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

The book does end on an amazing cliffhanger. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series Oblivion that will be released on March 5, 2022.

I would recommend this series if you love dark romances, assassin romances, or romantic suspense.

EQ sees us delving deeply into the world of Storm and the MC. Phee is quite literally stuck between worlds and spiraling out of control. She is questioning everything (good and bad) and continues to put herself in impossible situations.

Reid really split us open by revealing so many damning secrets but leaving us with more questions in its wake. The ending will shake you to the core and have you wondering just where will this take us and what ending can we expect to see.

LK REID JUST KILLED ME AGAIN!!
Really this book is just so good that from the beginning to the end it was hard to stop for a break. The way that this author worked through the feelings of Ophelia and Storm it's juts amazing.
I loved to know more about Ophelia, in the first book it was all about her personal anger but seeing her sadness, her passion it's just something else. Ophelia Ekaterina Aster is definitely much more than her father made her belive.
I was surprised with Storm too, I loved that guy even when I hated him and oh man his potential is incredible, he had so much to show and I'm really happy that I was able to see that
That end had me totally shocked and super super super excited for what is to come so whatever is it, I'm ready to get deeper in this world.

Book two starts at end of book one. And from the outset it’s a bumpy ride for Ophelia!

Ophelia should be feeling some semblance of relief. One less evil on the earth! But she doesn’t, she doesn’t feel much of anything.
She on the search for her missing sister, and although they hadn’t gotten along in years, she doesn’t deserve the fate she’s been handed, so Ophelia is going to find her and try to save her.
Then she’s back to finish the job she started, men on her hit list....
Men that will die!!!

We have a new character in this book, we also met him in the previous book Storm.
He has the same outlook on life, bleak, harsh and endless!!
Leader of a vicious motorcycle gang, his word is law, and if you cross him, you won’t see him or the next day coming....
And wouldn’t you know it, he’s already betrayed her!

Romance? There is a definite interest between these two, but I think it’s more on Storm’s side than Ophelia’s.
They had met years ago, and for both of them there was an Instant attraction. But Ophelia had a mission and Storm was just suppose to be an itch she scratched. But for Storm, it was so much more, and it hurt that they never stayed together! So now he has her, he’s not going to let her go....
But I’m not sure if either of them can really love anyone?!
But those secrets he holds, they are going to tear them apart, he just knows it!!

Cliffhanger? You guessed it! Yup!

This one wasn’t as twisted as the last book (so I’m waiting for a whammy courtesy of book 3!) but things don’t go to plan for anyone. More secrets, more lies and the biggest plot twist that I did not see coming!!

Five stars, five bloody knives, five cold black hearts? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME!? 😭😤

I need to invest in some shares for Halls because I. AM. SCREAMING! AGAIN!?? I CAN'T!!

*SCREECH OF WEAPONIZED TRAUMA INTENSIFIES*

Hold me back because I wanna break stuff! Oh my GOD!! 😤 I am WRECKED! I had finally....I was coping...I had come to terms, and then! OOOOO I'M LOSING IT! No one is safe, my coworkers have cleared a path.

'Ricochet' was right, book 1 came for everyone wether directly or not EVERYONE caught shrapnel. Then this? Equilibrium WHO?? I STAYED OFF BALANCE!! I am a rickety boat in a turbulent sea, I'm rolling with sporadic emotions and I can not come down.

Ophelia takes a special kind of mentality to embrace her. She is after all, darkness embodied. So much so that not even she is safe from it. Book 2 delved so much deeper into her damage and the turmoil of those around her. Demons were confronted, they were slayed, laid to rest, and new ones born. After all there is no rest for the wicked and she is very much so. BUT, I so love her. Despite the monster that she is, she is still able to recognize all that she wants to be capable of. She was chiseled into an emotionless void meant to devour souls and she refuses to succumb completely.

In a world off kilter she holds strong to herself best she can and she digs her claws in despite the pain. After a life of servitude she's finally living her life for those she cares about. After so much loss we can only hope for her victory. This has been SO rough but I'm holding strong. Pop a dramamine my friends, it's coming, Oblivion.

LK Reid tricked me into thinking I’ll be able to survive this one, but I should’ve known better. I’ll never get over that last 30%!

Equilibrium continues with Ophelia’s story right where Ricochet ended. In this one, we see a completely different side of Ophelia. We see her haunted by her demons, dealing with supressed feelings of everything that happened in Ricochet. Her pain is the dark place to be, full of pain, suffering, loneliness, betrayals and regrets. And although she’s terrified of her feelings for Storm, bit by bit her walls started to fall down, and I really enjoyed seeing her emotional growth.

“𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘭, 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘩 𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘣𝘢𝘺, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘦𝘱𝘵 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦.”

I was already team Storm and this book just cemented that. Their chemistry was so intense. And I absolutely loved how despite his strong feelings for her, Storm knew not to push Ophelia. He accepted all her darkness and just wanted to love her as she is. His backstory broke me, and then with that ending, my heart completely shattered for him.

Gosh I highlighted the shit out of this book! So many amazing quotes! LK Reid definitely knows how to write and you need to be prepared to feel every single thing her characters go through, both good and bad. The ending left me broken and struggling with finding forgiveness. I’m impatiently waiting for Oblivion but at the same time I’m scared of what’s to come.

After the end of RICOCHET left me speechless EQUILIBRIUM left me breathless.

Ophelia just wanted to be free more freedom is something she would not easily find after waking up at the Sons of Hades club, where Prez Storm just wants to keep her safe, but Phee is far from wanting to be another man's prisoner, confused, broken and consumed by what has become all she wants and leave Santa Monica and rescue her sister and disappear forever.
But what she didn’t expect was that Storm had other plans for her, unable to understand her attraction to him, she starts wanting to fight in order to leave because she doesn’t want to bring cause to the Children of Hades, more every day more attached to them and Storm.
Willing not to let another man break her heart, she finds herself in a daily struggle with her mind and heart because her demons want to devour her.

A twist full of secrets, mysteries, hatred, lust, connection and trust makes you bleed when everything starts to fall apart making Storm and Phee have to fight for everything they want.

This book is an explosion full of emotions and is sure to take your breath away in the best and worst ways ... and I'm honestly looking forward to what's going to happen in Oblivion.
Because L.K again left me speechless, I just hope to survive until the next one.

Equilibrium picks up right where Ricocbet left off.

Equilibrium is filled with secrets, lies, hidden pasts, and a lot of questions. Answers are sprinkled in through different sections of the book from all different characters.

Ophelia struggles through so much inner turmoil and self deprecation throughout the book. Her childhood, her upbringing, her father, and the syndicate have really messed her up. She has been taught that emotions are nothing more than weaknesses and distractions. This leaves her not knowing what to do when she feels any type of emotion aside from anger. She's impulsive and irrational. She does things in the moment with no regard for consequences and won't give anyone the chance to explain. She believes that everyone lies and everyone will betray her. She thinks she is unworthy of love.

Storm has as much of a tortured past as Ophelia but all he wants is to protect her and show her how much he does love her. But neither of them knows how to have a relationship and neither knows how to manage emotions or be one hundred percent honest. Their secrets may very well tear them apart.

There are some unexpected twists in this book. I really can't say anything about them because they'd be spoilers but you don't want to miss them!!

Holy Shit!!❤️❤️

@lkreid did an amazing job with his story. The plot was so well done, I was like damn where did those ideas even come from.

I have never loved and hated a character at the same time like I did with Phee, she is such a complex character and L.K Reid did a beautiful job writing her. Her decisions were questionable especially at the end, I expect a lot of grovelling from her in the next book. I love badass bitches and she nailed it, but my favourite part is when she showed some vulnerability and remorse I liked her a lot more.

In the previous book I had already stated liking Storm but this book just made me fall in love with his whole character. He owned me from the beginning and while at one point I disapproved of some of his actions, I still love him. I went though a whole rollercoaster of emotions as I read about him. He is an amazing character the tattoos and is definitely in my book boyfriend list.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Read the triggers before starting the book.

What an amazing book. I couldn't put it down once I got into the story. This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions. I absolutely loved loved this story.
This picks up where Ophelia was "kidnapped" by Storm and the Sons of Hades. He makes her feel thing's... thing's that she knows she doesn't deserve. He's been searching for her ever since that one night 4 yrs ago and now that he has her he's not ever letting her go.
This story tells the tale of someone who think's she doesn't deserve love, family, happiness, because of the bad thing's she's done in her life all in the name of The Syndicate run by her father, but Storm thinks if he can get her to stay she can have that, but soon evil comes knocking when you least expect it.

There are so many lies and secrets that are being kept and not to mention traitors among the loyal. That ending though😱

If you read the 1st book Ricochet you'll want to one click this one it's definitely one not to be missed.
