Harbinger of Death

Rate this book
When Mila and her children were dragged from their home, kicking, and screaming, she thought that was the end of it for her. They made her watch as they stripped away everything she held close. They stripped Mila of her dignity, her life, and worst of all, her children. Little did she know, when she begged the Gods to let her get her revenge on the monsters who had done this, the only God to answer her prayers would be the Devil himself.
Waking up in a strange world, where Mila has more questions than answers, she is gifted with three ripped men. Men who can help her seek the revenge that burns in her veins. The only catch, wrath is not the only sin she wants to play with.

Talk about taking PNR to another level...I love a hellish story!

First time author for me and I was so impressed! The story, the slight bloom of a romance, the slightly grisly plot...and hello Hellhounds!🤤

I love a fierce villain and Mila was a perfect fit...not entirely lost in her emotions but a need for revenge. An absolute perfect fit for sure. Whilst this story has some real heart aching parts, I love the growth the MC experiences. Her need for revenge isn't the only reason why she was reborn in Hell and I cannot wait to read more!

But...um...I need more. Please. Now?

Totally loved this book! This was my first book by Kat Blak and I cant wait to read book 2. Mila, Duke, Rowan and Zane were fantastic. I loved every bit of it and needed more. The next book can't come fast enough. I loved seeing all the revenge.

Dark, twisted and steamy! I've never read anything like this and I'm in love.

Mila's children are being stripped off their lives in front of her, and she ends up being severly beaten and then hung up like some creature from a Bible. Broken and soul crushed, she wishes to die.
Next thing she knows, she wakes up in a strange world, suddenly being a Mistress to three hot guys. They are there to serve her and she only responds to the Devil himself.

Her wish was being granted.

She has supernatual powers now and she can shift. With the help of her men, she's hell-bent on revenge, she makes those men bend and scream. She's got a lust for blood now!

I absolutely loved every moment of this story! The writing flows effortlessly, the plot is like a twigh light zone magic, and the characters unique, rebelious, funny and so likeable.

Can't wait for more!

Looking for a spooky read this Halloween season? Look no further!
.
Kat is a new to me author and I’m wondering why it’s taken me so long to get to one of her books. I’ve had Crystal Moon on my tbr for the longest so after reading this? Your for damn sure I’ll be reading all her other books.
.
Definitely an interesting writing style. Took me a beat to get familiar with it but when I did it was great. I loved how the current pandemic made it into this book. It made this book all the more of a real read and relatable. Must admit I thought this was going to be a super dark, thriller/horror type read but it wasn’t and I wasn’t expecting the dry humour moments, or at least I found them funny, but I enjoyed it either way. The contrast worked great and blended in nicely.
.
The characters were great. Each of the characters seem to enhance the story in different moments which I found intriguing and amazing. The deeper we got into the paranormal aspect the more I loved it. It’s definitely an original plot and concept. Also her interpretations about hellhounds, harbingers and even the devil himself fascinated me. I can’t wait for the next book to explore more of that.
.
Definitely a pleasant surprise reading this and I look forward to seeing what Kat has in store next.

Well, that was NOT what I was expecting.

Truthfully, I was expecting this dark, twisted, brutal story about redemption. And while we DID get all of the above, the story was actually so much more.

After a horrific beginning that had me in tears (I'm a mama, don't judge), our FMC, Mila, is resurrected in Hell. There she meets the Master and the 3 men with black eyes who become her protectors...Duke, Zane, and Rowan. Can you say YUMMY SAMMICH, cuz dayum. I loved learning about them. And one scene? 🔥🔥🔥 I'm SO down for THAT.

The world development was detailed without being full of nonsense. I had LOTS of questions throughout the book but at the end I realized why they hadn't been answered yet. And I was totally cool with it because the plot progress was quick and thrilling.

After learning of a prophecy, discovering her powers, and beginning the hunt for those who ripped away her world, Mila is sent on a whirlwind of an adventure that involves lots of blood, violence, lies, and betrayals. Add in a bit of steam and a plot that is SO damn interesting, and Harbinger of Death by Kat Blak is one helluva ride and a PERFECT companion for it's spooky release date of October 31, 2020!

And that ending? Well, you'll see. Let's just say I'm super stoked about what's to come.

🌸 ARC provided to me in exchange for an honest review. 🌸

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this one but the blurb immediately got my attention. This was my very first book by Kat Blak but it definitely won't be my last. This book was exciting, dark & twisted and unforgettable. It was unlike anything I've ever read.

4.5 out of 5 stars

This book would pull at any mother's heartstrings. What would you do if your life and the life of your children is taken from you? This mother Mila, will do what she needs too, to seek revenge on whoever wronged her.

I will say I was surprised by where this story took us and you could feel the want for justice throughout the pages. As we start to see truth come to light, who is really pulling the strings?

I will say I was pleasantly surprised that this book wasn’t a standalone and look forward to seeing this story expanded upon.

Kat is a new author to me. I love her style of writing and the book is very well written. I was drawn in from the first page right up until the last page, the plotline is so different, I think that's why I liked it so much. From the very first page there are some triggers that might be hard to read for some. This book is full of action, violence, heartbreaking moments, hot steamy scenes, suspense and mystery. Mila is a strong and brave character that's out for revenge for the lost of her family, she has 3 hot sexy hellbeasts to help to achieve this. what an ending, it's left me wanting more.

Dark and thrilling from beginning to end!

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned"

WOW! What an intense and thrilling dark ride this series is going to be!

Right from the very beginning we are thrown into a dark and treacherous apocalyptic world filled with hatred and pain. The gruesomeness of this story told a tale of extreme loss and pain. Mila is a mother who has to witness the awful death of her children and then suffer along with them. Her pain was evident in every word and action she took to try to save them and then avenge them. Then to awaken in hell as something else kicks Mila's anguish and pain into overdrive. She is now the harbinger and will get her revenge on those that destroyed her and her family.

Mila is not a weak character. She is fierce, strong and sassy as hell. She had me laughing at her sarcasm and wit and heartbroken at her pain and anger. The fact that she woke up in Hell as something other than human doesn't even bring her to her knees. She rises up to this new challenge. Then when Lucifer gifts her with three hellhounds, she takes it all in stride. Her hellhounds happen to also be three very sexy, very demanding and very intense men. They will protect her and help her seek her revenge.

I was drawn to this story based solely on its fantastic and amazing cover and blurb. This is a dark, raw and very gruesome story that takes you down a rabbit hole of depravity, anguish, pain and death. But there is also some very sexy and highly erotic moments between Mila and her hellhounds that will completely and utterly melt your panties and leave you breathless for more.

I loved everything about this new series and I can hardly wait for the next book to see what kind of destruction Mila and her hellhounds get up to.

Phenomenally written and I am now completely hooked.

"𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒊𝒄𝒌 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒐𝒇𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖."

The book shows the life after a virus impact, which kind of seems like the corona virus. (Thank god this is fiction, because this life doesn't scream amazing).

This paranormal MFMM romance visits Earth and Hell and includes different monsters, hellhounds, Lucifer (devil), angels and ofcourse the raven. There's so much new information and I am now ready to write an essay on it!

OMG! The guys/men/sexy af male species are definitely eye candy to Lucifer.
While Duke is a stuck up ahole, I love Zane & Rowan! Both of them are the comforting presence, while Duke is the gas to Mila's fire.
I loved the suspense brewing and the lack of answers, I know, I know, I should be desperate for the answers, but well, the story is at a comfortable pace and there's no need to rush it. As good as everything is, I didn't connect with the FMC. I felt like she needed direction; at times she was diverting from her goal and that made me mad, because hello? Excuse me? Focus! Start working on your R-E-V-E-N-G-E plan woman! But maybe that's bound to happen when you've got three sexy, hot men around you all the time...

This book ends at a cliffhanger but with a satisfactory ending. A small part of the secret is out and she'll find out the rest. The prophecy is yet to be revealed and her men are now walking on thin ice.

**Jaw drops on the floor**

Words fail me trying to work out this book (in a flaming good way!). A word to the wise this is not a light-hearted read (if your looking for that then you best find a different book) and the first few pages will be hard reading for some. I had a few tears st the start whilst reading it but for those that like their books a bit darker (thats me) then stick with it because its one hell (literally!) of a read. Mila (FMC) definitely has a difficult time in this book. Having her life stripped away from her and the lives of her children in such a brutal way. She is given an opportunity for revenge. The only problem is the one offering the solution is the devil. Not the most reliable person ever!! 3 hellhounds (Duke, Rowan and Zane), a quick witted bad*** anti heroine (or heroine depending on how you look at it) and plenty of blood. In all its a bloody cracking read. What the actual **** was that ending?? So flaming good. Im counting down the days for the next book now

This is my first read by Kat Blak and I am hooked. In this book she brings us a tale of revenge and betrayal. This is a fast paced post pandemic reverse harem with lots of steam and hell of a lot of gore.
Something horrible and despicable happens to Mila in the beginning. She cries to the gods to give her the power to seek revenge. Her wish is granted by a most unexpected person. She is given the power to seek her revenge and a harem of sexy, brooding hellhounds to help her along the way, however not all is as it seems and Milan’s trust in her men will be tested and hearts will break.
I had one question that bugged me through the entire book and that was Why? Why did this happen, who set it up. Luckily it was answered by the end but it left me with more questions?
The ending will leave you gasping and begging for more. Kat Blak gave us all the emotions and ripped my heart out a little along the way. I cannot wait for the next book. Like I want it now!!

An interesting cross over that isn’t run of the mill hell Whilst they both belong in hell. It’s rare to see them together like this. Mila has been thrusted into this world by her prayers and given powers beyond her wildest beliefs when she loose everything

She given limited information but it is enough for for her. Her protectors and the abilities she are handed aren’t ones that you get handed every day. Mila is one that you have to watch . She is isn’t afraid to wield power.

This was curious and dangerous. I love the concept and it was perfect given the background that lead her to this point. Mila and her team are people I don’t’ want to mess with and I can’t wait to read more from Black.

Wow

Harbinger of Death is an absolutely amazing story. We are introduced to Mila when an unthinkable horrible situation takes places that forever changes Mila. We then meet Zane ,Rowan, and Duke who introduce her to her master non other than Lucifer himself. This story is filled with some much darkness , revenge , and twist and turns to leaves you breathless. There is such a hateful sexual tension between Duke and Mila it seeps of the page. This book is an amazing reverse harem. This book ends on a cliffhanger that has you asking so many question like who can truly be trusted , what is the prophecy, and what is to come for Mila. This book is dark and full of triggers so tread with caution. I can not wait for the second book 🔥

This book is such a tease! I really needed a new paranormal RH book and this one was hitting all my check marks, but it was so short! I really did love the world making and the idea of the Devil, the Harbinger, and her guys. I just wish it had been longer, I felt like it was just cut off too soon! And now to wait for book 2! Duke is the bad boy who doesn't want to give into our now fearless Mila. BTW, that first chapter was hard to read as a mother myself. I def. was about to cry because it's pretty guy wrenching. Rowan and Zane are the cute cuddly guys that want to help Mila out. You get a little bit of steam in this book and some gore along the way. Not too much of a cliffhanger but will be waiting onto book two!

This book is a unique take on the dark, paranormal romance. Mila is trying to take care of her children in a world that was almost wiped out by a deadly virus. After the horrific murder of her children, before her eyes, she dies with screams of revenge on her lips. She awakens in the under world surrounded by three gorgeous males tasked to help her complete her mission as the harbinger of death. She must deal with her new power, while surrounded by demons, as she undertakes her mission of revenge. This novel was action-packed and fast paced with great world building. I was sucked In from the very first page up until that shocking cliffhanger. I have so many questions and I need the next book now!

I freaking love it! I got mystery, action, smexy times and betrayal! You will see an instant attraction with the characters and then you will see a hatred as well. So Mila goes through a transiton and you want to know why she goes through it. Then you meet Zane, Duke and Rowan. Woah, these guys are hot but one in particular is a d-bag. Now the interesting part for me is how Mila is adapting to her new self and what she can do. She is hellbent on revenge. What interest does Lucifer want with Mila? Oh that ending, um did Duke wait too long? So what will happen now. I cannot wait to see whats coming cause it can either be good or bad.

This is my first book for this author and it surprised me in the best ways. It surprised me so much. I was a little worried at the beginning because it was so tragic but then you realize you needed that part to read the rest of the story and i love love loved it. I love demons and hellhounds so much and I was not expecting any of it. It kept my attention through-out the whole thing. I loved how she was interacting with the guys and that the the steaminess started right away. I think that Duke, Zane and Rowan are so hot and sexy. I love that hey have such different personalities and they bring out different things in her. I was surprised honestly that it had a cliffhanger but super excited to see where this journey leads Mila and her hounds...And you cant forget about Devil...Hes in the details...............

In a post virus world, Mila is just trying to give her two children a normal life as possible. One night all that ends. Their home is broken into, and both Mila and her children are tortured and murdered. With her dying breath Mila curses the men who destroyed her life, begging for anyone who is listening to help her get revenge. & someone unexpected does...When she wakes, Mila expects her pain and suffering to continue, but instead learns she is a Harbinger of Death and has been granted the gift of revenge. Along with this gift comes three handsome and unpredictable Hellhounds. As Mila learns about her powers and goes about meting out her revenge, she learns that her second chance at life may not have been a gift at all...

Dark and gory- please read the triggers.
I loved this book. It was not what I was expecting and was a completely different take on death.
Mila seeks revenge for her family and the Devil gives her three hot men to help out. I liked the take on how this Devil's world works.
I loved the writing style in this book, it isn't bogged down with constant detailed descriptions of everything and everyone.
Mila is sarcastic and feisty but still a little vulnerable and was great to read, she had the best lines. She was badass but not invincible.
The guys seem to see Mila as a breath of fresh air to their violent and depressing lives.
I was not expecting the twist of a cliffhanger at the end.

I was not sure at all what to expect with this book, I was actually worried I'd have trouble getting into it because I thought it was just a paranormal read. I am guilty of judging a book by it's cover, punish me.

I promise, this book was so much more than that. I was definitely worried that the gruesome events preceding the book were going to overshadow the whole thing and be too difficult to get past but the humor that was sprinkled throughout the book made it impossible not to. I actually laughed myself to tears a few times. Was it highly inappropriate given the subject matter? Probably. I think my sin would be forgiven. *wink wink*

But in all seriousness this was a great book. I loved it, a little peeved it is only book one (sigh) but I just know all the way down to my wretched soul that book 2 is going to be hell...in the best way.

So good! I loved every second of it. I liked that she wrote a version of the pandemic we're going through, though much darker. It's painful, dark, heartbreaking, but the words are addicting. Mila has this air of youthfulness and innocence about her, but she's also so fucking strong, going through hell so she can avenge her children. She fights for revenge with everything she has, and with her three hellhoudns she's unstoppable, a force to be reckoned with. She's also hilarious, the things that came out of her mouth made me laugh every time. I can't wait to know more about this prophecy and to see her make monsters bleed for her children 🖤

This quick read had quite a few surprises in store for me. When the FMC finds herself dead at the outset of the novel and with three guardians on her hands to carry out her revenge mission, I wasn’t quite sure how dark this was going to get. It’s not the darkest book I’ve read, but it’s got some moments that absolutely screw with our poor FMC’s mind. There are moments of steam and connection and there are moments where humanity is at its utter worst (the darker parts of the book... that’s why there’s a trigger warning folks). I will say I’m all in for book 2... You read that right. If you’re like me, you may have thought this was a standalone... It’s not! You’re on the hook for another one if you love it as much as me! ;-)

This book grabbed me and would not let me put it down until the very last page was read. It has a very interesting story that keeps you reading till the end and you cant put it down till you read till the end. The characters are so real that you feel as though you know them and you want to be there for them. This is a book that has to be read and on your TBR list for 2020.

Wow this story was so good!!! Kat Blak is such a great author. Storyline is a little dark but that didn’t stop me. I will admit a couple parts did make me tear up. Slower burn.... kind of. Characters are phenomenal. I can’t pick my favorite yet among the guys. Kind of want all 3. So happy that story is going to be continued. So many questions. Definitely recommend this one!!! Loved it!!!

In eerily parallel with the current state of the world (pandemic, government overstep), this book hits you where the author wants it to.

Mila ends up in Hell after begging for a chance to avenge her and her family’s death. Saddled with three hot guys she learns to harness her powers to exact revenge on those who need to pay. Watch out world, she’s on a mission and beware to those who get in her way - including the guys Duke, Rowan and Zane.

Revenge stories can be overdone but not this one. This one has a bada&$ FMC who can hold her own. And the heat radiating between the 4 is super hot and sexy.

Fantastic and heart wrenching. I wanted to cry, scream, laugh and avenge. All the feels wrapped up in a tightly woven story with plenty of steam and a boatload of action. What a book hangover though. That cliffhanger was brutal. Can’t wait for the next book to see what our harbinger does next.
