anyway, 3 stars instead of 2 for good smut. wasn't overly impressed by anything else tho

Into The Dark is a standalone, dual POV. Dark Romance. As with any dark romance, I always say read your trigger warnings. There are several. Is this my darkest book? No, but could be someone else’s and darkness is subjective to the reader. On my dark scale, it teeters on black. And there are never any guarantees of a happily ever after in dark romance.
Him is a serial killer with his demon by his side hunting his next victim which is always a woman. When he sees a woman named Lyra he is highly intrigued by her, Him needs to know more about her.
Lyra is not the normal woman he seeks out. Him is a completely unhinged sociopath who has always lived an isolated life. Lyra has an obsessive personality, always just looking for someone to be obsessed with her as much as she is obsessed with them. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about her; In the end, I was in love with her character.
Both MC completely flawed with traumatic pasts and mental illness. These two belonged together. Each one understands the other and with no judgment. As much as I love both characters, Him’s was something else, to get into his head as to why and talking to his demon.
The author is highly talented, and you can tell she wrote this book with her heart and soul. She went into a very deep, dark place with this one. That ending to me was everything and touched my soul. I will remember this book for years to come.
Into The Dark is what I look for in any dark romance. Pushed my boundaries and delivered a phenomenal book. I highly recommend it to all my dark romance readers.

Well this was definitely a wild ride!! It was a roller coaster dark, disturbing , hot, emotional and so Wilde! Nothing here is like your regular books it’s so different so unique!
I decided to not read any triggers and it was the best choice because I loved it!! It was a long time since I read something like this!
I definitely recommend it if you need something to put you out of your basics reads and out of your boundaries !

I had been working myself up to reading this but that’s not gonna happen knowing that the MMC in this book was heavily inspired by a survivor of CSA without his knowledge or approval. It’s sickening.

i'm kinda disappointed that i didn't cry and i cry to literally anything emotional. my eyes were glassy but the chapters were so short that i didn't get the full effect. that and the fact that i already figured out what will happen at the end.
its a 200 page book but it reads longer idk if its because its heavy or what but it took me the whole day to read, which shocked me.

Can not support an author who steals content from another person. This was originally by Jaclyn Kelso. That is not okay. I also am absolutely appalled you would take someone else’s SA story and make it the background story for a serial killer. Trying to profit off of someone’s trauma?? That is not a good look ma’am. They deserve an apology.

Came back to change my rating to 1 star bc stealing other’s peoples work is never ok. I usually don’t go back and change past reviews but I felt it was important to state I no longer support this author. Do you own research but since I was so public in my original support to the author I felt it was needed to be just as public with my stance now.

While reading the book I really thought that I’ve heard that before. But thought it was all in my head. So 5 Stars right? Ah no. The original written by Jaclyn „not all guys“ and voiced from vo.Eros. Yeah. The original deserves 10/5 stars. But not the copy. 😶

And to find out a couple days ago that Dana Isaly herself, a longtime fan and happily paying patron of mine, had actually straight up STOLEN my public story of childhood sexual assault, trauma, and subsequent wasted life and feeling like a failure as the backstory for her serial killer, which was ALREADY a plot she had completely stolen from us? And in her book, she glorified it, repeatedly, in vivid detail. She made it seem like the male child actually enjoyed it.

This is a dark taboo story about a couple, not a romance because it doesn't have a HEA. Having read the author's disclaimer and trigger warning I was ready to feed off the toxicity of this couple and the author definitely delivered the toxicity. He stalks her with the intention of killing her but ends up obsessed with her and that's how their story begins. I like how he's not likeable at all and the author does not shy away from how ridiculous he is but rather leans on that and also how he's not redeemable at all! He isn't morally gray, he's downright evil! Also how she is very mentally ill and they're just trauma bonding and finding that something that makes them feel safe enough to share their true selves. While it's not a romance you can definitely see how their characters change due to their relationship and how they'll do literally anything just so they can be the center of each other's world. I could appreciate what was conveyed in the story which is why I gave it 2 stars but I really didn't care for them as individuals or as a couple.
I'll be honest, I was expecting more steamy scenes that were erotic but unlike in games we play this one didn't do it for me. And believe me, it wasn't the blood that didn't make me enjoy it lol, I just couldn't really see that sexual spark between them.
The ending becomes apparent pretty early on with all the clues they drop so yeaaah. It didn't do anything for me, especially because I never really connected with the characters. It is a pretty short book so it was a fun spooky time read.

4 ⭐️ I love it when the heroine is equally obsessed as the hero is with her or more so I loved this one!! It doesn’t end in a hea but for this couple it was a hea for them in their own way!

A vida de Lyra e Elijah se cruzam e de uma forma doentia, eles se completam. Esse não é um relacionamento saudável que você lê em diversos livros de romances, mas ainda assim, mesmo de um jeito doentio, eles se completam.
Ambos tem um passado que deixaram eles cheio de traumas e que de alguma forma moldaram eles para os dias de hoje, lógico que não é desculpa para muitas coisas que acontecem no decorrer da leitura, mas isso deixa a gente com leitor mais apegado aos personagens.
Quando solicitei o arc desse livro imaginei encontrar páginas e mais páginas de matanças, mas fui enganada e não de uma forma ruim, já que encontrei aqui uma face de um relacionamento que eu não imaginava, e que mesmo que seja estranho me prendeu a cada página querendo saber mais e mais onde isso ia parar.
A autora deixa claro que o livro não tem um felizes para sempre lá no avisos de gatilhos, então eu fui já sabendo disso e não me decepcionei, já que o final desse livro parecia certo para esse casal. O livro é repleto de gatilhos, então recomendo a leitura com cautela e atenção.
Um livro que me chamou a atenção desde a divulgação e que me prendeu durante toda a leitura, um casal sem dúvidas cheio de traumas e um relacionamento pra lá de problemático, mas que de uma forma doentia se completavam e deixa o leitor preso na leitura e preocupado com o que pode realmente acontecer.

March 1, 2022When I started Into the Dark i was very aware of every triggers and I knew that there wouldn’t have been an HEA.
Those were actually the reasons i wanted to read it in the first place.
Plus that blurb, that cover called me in a way I can’t explain.
I liked it, a lot, even if it's not as dark as I thought it would have been ( at least for me, guess my mind is kinda deviated at this point LOL).
It's an amazing book and the author made a great job describing the sickness of these characters, the toxicity of this obsession.
So I don’t understand why all i felt, after finishing it, was emptiness.
I couldn't connect with the story the way I wanted ( and I wanted it so damn much because this kind of book is exactly what I like the most).
But i didn’t feel my heart pounding, i didn’t sheer a single tear.
Honestly it confuses the hell out of me. 🙈🙈🙈
So what i'm saying is that maybe this was not the right time for me to read it but
I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED it!!
And i'm gonna surely reread it soon!!

Lyra y nuestro protagonista se obsesionan el uno con el otro y viven una historia de amor complicada, turbia, muy emocional, pasional y cruda! Recordemos que en sus cabezas, eso es amor/lo que creen que es amor!
Es un retelling de Romeo y Julieta, es decir NO HAY FELICES PARA SIEMPRE (aunque bajo mi punto de vista, sí que es un felices para siempre!).
Recordad, leed los TW de esta maravilla de libro antes de empezarlo, puede que soltéis alguna que otra lagrimilla, pero seguro que os encanta!
