I wake up with a gasp, surrounded by smoke and flames.

Twelve hours earlier, my cousins cut their European vacation short and came home to spend my birthday with me. They promised me a day to remember.

No one could have predicted how true that promise would turn out to be.

When the clock strikes eleven-eleven on June sixth, I make a wish. But fate has other plans, and she deals me an unexpected hand.

That’s the thing about fate. She doesn’t ask permission, she takes what she wants.

When my world devolves into chaos, I decide to be like fate.

And I want all three Fitzgerald brothers.

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

Star Rating : 4.5 / 5 stars

POV : Multiple

Cliffhanger : Yes

Hero : Multiple

Heroine : Aliana. She was the sweet girl type and was sassy when needed. The perfect missing part of the 3 brothers who owned the heart.

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 6/10

Heat Rating : 8/10

Triggers Involved : Kidnapping

Plot Summary :
Rush , Sully and Wolf are back to find their missing woman. The woman who completes them and keeps them at peace. She is now in danger and there is nothing they won't do for her.

Aliana is now kidnapped by people she doesn't know and she knows they are about to hurt her. Rush, Wolf and Sully are a Major part of her life and she can only hope that they will come for her but until then , she'll have to take care of herself.

Overall Opinion :
The first book of this series was only an introduction of sorts of the characters but it was this book that had actual progress between the relationship of the characters. Just like the first book which was named 'Wolf' , focused on the relationship of Wolf and Aliana , this one focused maximum on Rush , a bit on Wolf and the least on Sully.

Rush was the perfect part of the trio for Aliana. They had a lot of progress in this book and the storyline was good for me. Sully is the toughest brother to crack and he is still not don't convincing himself that Aliana is better away from him . The book had a lot of twists and turns that kept my attention and I wasn't able to let go of this one until the very end!! I am so excited to read the next book after that big Cliffhanger in this book too. I hope sully will have some progress in his own book because that man sure is very stubborn 😂.

A must read for all the dark Romance lovers out there!! If you are into a Mafia RH Romance with three JP brothers who have found their missing match in a single woman then please read this one!!

Final Verdict :
An amazing mafia romance!
A must read!
The first book only had the introductions of the characters , where as this one had more character progress
Has a killer cliffhanger!

I don't think the mother twist worked out quite as planned.

Also, I don't wanna be this girl but I have to, two books and still no sex... If I'm reading a RH, I need a little more than a BJ or HB here and there.

3.5 stars - rounding up because I enjoyed the story and see potential for winning me back with the next one. Overall, enjoyed the book, though not as much as the first book. I wanted more out of the character development and getting to know them better, and the added drama due to communication failures always irritates me. I'm hoping for more in the next book.

**WIP Review **

The story held my interest, often keeping me on the edge of my seat. Following the Dual-POV story telling between Alaina and Wolf in the last book with a couple of POVs from Rush and Sully, as anticipated this book is primarily told Dual-POV by Alaina and Rush.

The skow burn continues to tease and heat up, and those scenes are 🔥🔥

While I'm not usually one for insta-love, I appreciated how uncomplicated and certain some of the H/h relationships are forming. For all of my angsty romance reading, it's kind of refreshing, you know?

The mystery continues, and there are certain revelations that I'm not sure what to think.... Or who to trust. Other than the guys.

A few things held me back from full-on loving it.
- I didn't feel like I got to know the characters any better in this book. Their feelings for each other grow and solidify, but I don't really know them. Other than being fixated on the h and learning a tiny bit more about Rush, it just wasn't enough for me to form a deeper connection with the main characters.
- I'm not feeling delicious angst with the sulking one; I'm feeling "I'm over this". And the only card played is the lust card 🙄
- One of the things that I've liked about Alaina is that she feels relatable. She has insecurities and lets herself be vulnerable, not pretending otherwise. Well, she falls prey to her insecurities for *reasons* (keeping spoiler-free) and floats through through a couple of days as a shell of herself. Honestly, I'd have found it more relatable if she split, but what I was hoping for was her to use her gd words and speak up. She thinks she's falling for these guys, claiming them in her head and imagining a future together, yet she can't talk to them when she's feeling low or lonely or off?? Ugh. And as perceptive as the guys are, they don't pick up on her emotional state for how long? And then it's soothed away with some assertive PDA? Orgasms won't fix y'all's communication. Anyway. Not a huge chunk of the story, but my annoyance with it pulled me out of the story and had me questioning the characteristics of the FMC I had formed up until that point.
- how is it that no conversation has taken place about the tension elephant in the room? Even if a certain brother does not want to talk about it, it's not even talked about with the other brothers. In fact there were two "sharing from the pasts for starting off this relationship with honesty" conversations that I was expecting to happen in this book that do not happen. It's hard for me to buy-in to their insta-love romance when this stuff is glossed over or swept to the side. I'm left feeling more heat than foundation to the relationships and annoyed by the internal drama thwarted by failed communication on top of that.
- along the lines of my peeve about communication, another peeve of mine is TSTL actions/inactions. A lot goes down in the last third of the book. And there was lots of me cursing Alaina's inaction and then her last action. She goes from "I should call/text Rush" to just sitting around to wait for what's next, with her cellphone accessible the whole time 🙇‍♀️ And then she's either brave or stupid, depending on who you ask.

Wow, what an explosive second book in the Brotherhood series. If you are familiar, read Wolf, then you know the cliffy that we were left on. I do not want to give any spoilers for either book. So I would highly recommend you read Wolf and then Rush when it comes out.

I really enjoy mafia romance and to add to the fact that they are three mafia men. Each one dangerous and sexy as all get out. The female lead Alaina was kidnapped at the end of Wolf. I can tell you that her men, and yes even Rush, will stop at nothing to get her back. But the question is who ordered her kidnapping? Is there a mole in the Brotherhood? And are all three brothers really on board with sharing her?

Guys if you have read book one then you know how amazing it was. The intense attraction between Alaina and the guys was smoking. Things came out that were shocking to me. In Rush, there is more action, danger and hotness. The chemistry between them is addicting. You have to know what happens next.

There is another cliffhanger, maybe just a smidge more intense than the last one. But rest assured that book three is coming soon.

Rush By: Penelope Black

Let me start off by saying I took this book to daycare with me, every free moment I had I spent with my head in this book. I finished it before I was done. I didn't think book two could be better than the first, but I was so wrong. 🤷 I absolutely loved this one too, and that damn cliffhanger is even more deadly than the last. This author definitely knows how to get you addicted and searching ad fast as possible for the next book. I'm so glad I found this series after it was finished because I can say I would stalking her and begging for any scraps she had for me. I can't say to much about this one as it's book two but the characters get even better, the plot gets wilder and more intense. The Romance gets hotter and I'm left wanting a wolf, rush and sully for myself. Do yourself a favor and start this series, but we warned ⚠️ it might consume your life 🙈✌

I loved this freaking book!!! The action, the truths coming out, all of it! I've changed my mind. I dont want wolf. I want wolf AND rush. I cant wait for sully to figure his attitude out. It's going to be more explosive than that damn cliffy we just got left with!

I’m a little bitter about this book mostly because of the cliffhanger ending. It literally just ends in the middle of like a million different situations going on and leaves you with a million and five unanswered questions. Honestly it’s still weird at times the guys are in the mafia world. Sure they live a little dangerously but there’s not even a lot of action in the book. Aside from the beginning and end I found this to be more of an emotional and hectic journey for Alaina than a mafia romance. While Alaina grows closer to Rush and Wolf, Sully remains aloof and if the two aren’t kissing they’re fighting. These two have an entire backstory I’m still waiting for them to hash out and yet two books later and neither can explain or discuss how/why they each think the other up and left them, breaking their heart? I mean just living in the same house with him would drive me crazy without answers, I find it hard to believe in all this time she hasn’t asked him outright. Alaina also shows a lot of her insecurities in this book which I kinda loved. She’s 19 , vulnerable, unloved and insecure-even more so with three boyfriends. After the sheltered, all girls boarding school life she’s led with only about 1% parent participation I’m shocked and impressed with her independence and positivity. I can’t blame the girl for multiple breakdowns when her entire world explodes around her. Her impulsivity however can be a bit annoying but I think that’s just been a part of her life having to care for herself for so long. Honestly I’m glad the trilogy is ending next because I want and need answers.

Oh my god another amazing, action packed, edge of your seat book in the brotherhood series!!!
I’m this book we are back where we left off with Alaina, wolf, rush and sully with this book we get to know Rush more and my god is he one fine as hell man! His connection with Alaina is off the charts they are so drawn to each other! We can see they all have their struggles with sharing Alaina but in order to have her they are willing to do it! This men are so possessive but yet protective of her!
This book had so much more explosive action and plot twists I didn’t want to put it down!!
Alaina’s growth is really beginning to show you can see that the things she is being put through is making her stronger and I can’t wait to see how the events of this book changes her in book 3
I’m so excited to read Sully’s book as he’s still a big mystery he’s grumpy, dangerous, intriguing and I can’t wait to see what’s in store in that book!

This ends on a cliffhanger as well and my god what a cliffhanger that was I need answers!!

First I have to say that I hope there's a King sisters book. Those ladies are awesome and I'd love to see more of them. Second, I'm happy to report an increase in steamy scenes in this story. Sully might be hot and cold, but he definitely cares for Alaina. I love when the three guys protect Alaina from all the craziness that keeps happening. Who wouldn't want some sexy, badass men to be there for you always?

The plot of someone out to get Alaina and also torching all these places felt like it took a backseat and I still have a lot of questions. I'm still unsure about Alaina's dad too. We haven't seen him and I think there might be a chance that he's out there still.

Rush is a book I devoured because I had to know immediately what happened since my world stopped turning at the end of Wolf. Let me tell you, this book is full of twists and turns you won’t see coming and you might want to take a deep breath! Rush can make me “sing” any day!!! Rush is a control freak and such a brilliant mind, but his love and devotion for Alaina is rock solid. They have such an electrifying chemistry that it’s exhilarating to watch. Alaina comes more into her own in this story and I loved every minute of it. Even when she was doubting herself she pushed through and became stronger for it. You need to read this book for the cabin, the boxers, the hallway, and the backyard alone. Let’s not forget Wolf and Sully because they definitely pack a punch and will keep you on your toes! Did I mention the hallway because you might need to read that part a few times because I know I did! The protectiveness, devotion and love splashes across the pages in the most frustrating, breathtaking and steamy ways! I got a head “Rush” and I didn’t want this book to end.

Started well. The first book introduces characters, a little back story and pieces started falling into place. I could tell this would be a reverse harem about the middle of the first book. When I realized it was a reverse harem I was excited, a little spice, maybe a little group play. Finish the first book and jump right into the second one.
Starting the second book(this one) and I had expectations for this book. I just knew this book was where the spice and the sexual tension would come in, and I was disappointed. I rated the first book 4 stars because I truly enjoyed it. In this book, the build-up was not there for me personally. When I think of reverse harem I think of sexy and this book wasn’t it.

WTF???

Another amazing book in this series and I still need more! For some reason it seems I learned alittle more in the first book than I did on this one but I still learned more than I knew. I'm not sure why it seems that way but I feel after reading this I'm just left with more questions than I started with. I cannot wait for book 3 to come out. I need Sully's book like I need to breathe!!! April can't come soon enough.

This book is just as ridiculous as the first. Where is the spice? Two books of build up and absolutely nothing is happening.

It’s kind of embarrassing how the author messes up her own story. A lot of inconsistencies and plot holes that never get resolved.

Oof this series is a mess.

Rush by Penelope Black was an intense, emotional, fast-paced little story that sucked me in from page one.

Picking up right where Wolf left off, this book never slowed down. I mean, every single page had something intense going on. My heart did not slow down unless I took a break from reading. During my breaks, I was thinking about the story. 🤷‍♀️🤣 What Alaina went through, watching Rush and Wolf go all in. All the inner thoughts and descriptions were amazing. Even the push/pull from Sully was crazy addicting and exasperating.

And then that ending!!! Seriously, that double whammy had me shaking my Kindle...which threw the Hubs into a state of hysterical laughter because I was ranting. Because that ending was both amazing and anxiety-inducing.

I need Sully's book now (I'm assuming is book 3), k? Thanks.

But in all honesty, I loved this book. It has all the things I love without a SUPER deep plot. The plot is amazing and to the point, which I NEED in romances sometimes. Add in the amazingly progressing RH happening, and all the angst, snark, and character growth and I. Am. Hooked.

What. The. Hell. Did. I. Just. Read? Oh my goodness, when I thought that this book was just going to be a sexy slow burn with three stepbrothers; I was wrong. Totally wrong. There is so much jam packed into this 297 page book. It wasn’t overly packed though, the perfect build to this chaotic ending. I loved that this book gave us more into the characters personalities and the history between them. I knew something dramatic was going to happen, but I honestly didn’t expect this too all unravel and leave me at another cliffhanger. This was jam packed with delicious action, of both kinds, if you know what I mean😉

I’m loving getting to know these characters. I find each book gives me a slight glimpse more and more into each character. Although I feel like I know Alaina the most, the boys are all still coming together. They are each so different, yet hold the same passion, possession, and sexiness… Alaina is lucky😈👀

If you’re looking for a read that build on steam, has three sexy alpha males, with some crazy twists; I would recommend this series!📚

I give this novel 4.5-explosive-stars✨
Steam rating: 4🔥

Rush by Penelope Black is the second book in The Brotherhood series.

With war building between the other organisations, the circle of who the Brotherhood can trust is growing smaller, but it’s time for Rush and his brothers to find who took Alaina and return her to them.

The series starts to heat up in this book, as Alaina falls deeper for Rush and his two “brothers”. One of whom she’d already fallen for a long time ago, and the other who she fell before she knew who he was related to.

This Irish mafia, reverse harem romance has everything you’d expect from the genre and then some, along with some steamy scenes, secrets and all that mafia goodness.

Wow! Just wow!

I don't even know what I liked more: the way Aliana handled certain things on her own, the way Rush, Sully and Wolf couldn't bare to be without her, the way she was with them one-on-one time, or all the secrets that slipped past through when it came to her mother.

All of the above was exceptional. And what really stood out (at least it did to me) was the way this author teased with sexual tension.

Gimme Sully! Please.

After reading Wolf and that ending I jumped straight into this story and loved every word of it. Rush is book two in The Brotherhood series. It’s a continuation of their story and the pace didn’t slow down throughout.

The three brothers are determined to find their woman Alaina and they will do whatever it takes to get her back. There is so much I love about this storyline.

The author did an epic job with these characters. I’m hoping we get Sully as soon as possible.

Don't pick this one up last at night!

I am not going to steer you wrong this book was wonderful. I was stress reading it , you know shoulders up by ears trying to read fast to help your MC out of the stressful part. It is one I am glad I didn't start at night because I would have been up all night until it was done.

A must read!!

This book was flipping fantastic. The twists and turns blew me away. The cliffhanger at the end made me yell out loud. I was hooked at the start and the story kept me hooked the whole time. Those boys are fantastic. Wolf sleep talking was hilarious and adorable all at the same time. I love seeing Aliana grow and I will anxiously wait for the next book.

Cliffhanger alert!

Ahhh! So much is going on in this book and I love it! There’s more action and information. A lot of my questions and theories were answered and I’m so glad!

I can’t wait to read the next one! Especially if it’s Sully’s book as he has a lot of groveling to do and I’m dying to see it lol.

3.5. This was not as good as the first book, and again ends in a cliffhanger. I feel this book held so much more potential, but it just felt unrealistic and scattered. I still plan on reading the next book, let’s hope it redeems itself.

I am fully invested in this series. The plot and character development is spectacular ❤

So the spice kicked up and I'm loving the relationships. Also the King sisters are amazing 🔥🔥

I knew a cliffhanger would be there but I didn't expect that 😭 I'm not waiting a second to start the 3rd book.
