DANIEL

Destiny screwed me over once.

The Goddess betrayed me twice.

Now she’s sent me three gifts—three mates.

But three rights don’t make up for the wrongs I’ve been dealt…

Or do they?

I was born to a bastard.

An evil alpha who used terror and fear to reign over his people. One of a handful of alphas, in history, who was challenged and lost, triggering the total collapse of my world. The pack abandoned me, until Sabina Highbanks adopted me. Made me one of her family.

Then, of course, I learned my destiny.

A brother and sister were fated to go to war.

My job?

To make sure it happened.

The sister belonged to me.

The brother was mine to protect.

One I was born to love. The other I would die loathing.

Torn in two, split between coasts to satisfy a kismet I never asked for, my life is in ruins once again when the boy I’m charged with guarding dies.

At my hand.

I have no alternative but to go on the run, but you can’t outrun a goddess.

Or fate.

And when the three people you were born to love become entangled in an unforeseeable danger, one that stinks of a man I thought was dead, it’s time to come out of hiding.

I need to make fate my bitch.

Or die trying.

THE REVIEW FOR THE BOOK: SUN CHILD.

GENRE:PARANORMAL REVERSE HAREM ROMANCE.
AUTHOR;SERENA AKEROYD.
TYPE: BOOK #3 OF THE YEAR OF THE WOLF.
POV: FIRST PERSON: MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVE.
MY RATING: 5 " Unbelievably good " Stars.

I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE THIS WORLD OF MAGICAL CREATURES EVER!!!....
The author has created such an enchanting world with suspense brewing and the characters which are just the hottest.
Although this book is not complete...it was pretty good... even after 2 books in a row, I can never get enough of the characters.
Some new characters were introduced which just fits the whole thing like a missing puzzle piece.
So much Drama is awaiting us in this book and I was so devasted when I knew this book is yet to be complete but on the bright side...We will be getting more of Sabina and her mates...So I am good to go.
For Serene Akeroyd, I just wanted to say that you did an incredible thing with this series...this series literally set a huge bar for my future PNR romances and I hope you will be able to finish this series soon... No pressure but I need some Werewolf drama !!!!...

I absolutely LOVE this series! Not only because Serena is a beautiful writer and not only because she can write a sexy scene that makes me squirm. Yes, I love those things, but What I love most is how beautifully and uniquely Serena captures the story and concept of a mate bond. She’s created this whole magical world with so many complexities and layers of meaning, but at the center is always the strong, unbreakable, and intense mating of two characters...and not physically, metaphysically- the merging of souls. The magic of the bond combined with the magic of their cultures just makes for such a consuming reading experience. There’s a palpable energy to these books- once that sweeps you away.

While the prior book was MF, this one has the architecture of book one- a woman with three mates. But this story is very different from Sabina’s, because Grace has known since she was born who her mates are- Daniel, Knight, and Cade. And this story starts while they are still young, before they’re yet allowed to complete their bond- with the innocent but intense connection of three children….and a teen who has to come to grips with being mated to children much younger. Of course, Grace is the Sun Child, so her destiny makes things complicated as she tries to figure out her path. Daniel is torn as destiny demands he plays protector to Grace’s brother, who is destined to be her enemy. Cade tries to keep everyone calm and safe, while Knight tries to handle his unexpected powers and manage his hormones that demand a sense of normalcy he’ll never have.

This is one of my favorite shifter series of all time- because of the way Serena writes about the mate bond. The connection between her character is so intense and intimate- it's spiritual. The prose in and of itself is just beautiful, but the way these characters connect, the way their hearts and souls unite, is some of the most innovative and spellbinding depictions of the mate bond that I’ve ever read. There are times where my heart skips beats- where my breath stalls- LITERALLY- that is how physically and emotionally I am impacted by the magic of mates. It feels different than love- it feels more than that, inexplicable and intense and consuming but comforting all at once. And honestly- isn’t that what a mate bond should be? More than love- different, unexplained, but so palpable you can feel it in your bones. The fact that she can not only convey that is writing but make me feel it as a reader, well it is truly special.

And while I loved the first two books, I feel like this one is going to be even more beautiful- because these characters have a complexity that the others didn’t. Not only do we have a variety of ages and creatures represented, not only do we have a higher degree of magic and prophecy at play, but we have characters who have history. Most of them grew up together- knowing who their mates were before they even learned to walk. Even better, Serena lets us experience their longing, what it is like to slowly start to understand the people you were drawn to were your mates- how the mating bond complicates a need that felt platonic, and how these characters chafe while having to mature and figure themselves out as teens while carrying not only the heavy weight of their packs and the prophecies but also carrying the weights of already being mated in soul but not in body. THAT is interesting, that was addictive, and that has me BEGGING for the rest of the story to come out soon!

Be warned this is an incomplete story- BUT I can already tell it is going to be my favorite yet. Serena has promised the rest of the book is coming in 2021- and I can’t wait for it!

This is the 3rd book, a novella, in the Year of the Wolf! I was so excited to see what happens with Daniel, ever the protector. I have such a soft spot for him being a child rejected by his pack only to gain a new family. And now after reading this I have even more respect for him. I'm a sucker wanting to know what happens in the future and knowing when the kids grow up what they do and how they live and this Novella is perfect….

The Mother has put so much on his shoulders and all he wants is to be with his Mates, Knight, Cade and Grace. I just love how Serena progresses through this novella with multiple POVs and leaves us wanting more.

“You’re a good boy Daniel. Always have been, but the older you get the more mature and experienced, the more I see and know how right the Mother was to fit you into this role”

A great start to the next chapter of The Story of The Sun Child - Grace as well as Knight, Cade and Daniel. Not a long book but it packs in a huge amount. Knowing that they were mates from a young age all of them (except Daniel) have grown up together & thats not always a good thing. Especially for Knight (who annoyed me slightly). Whereas Daniel was going through his own problems as well as being separated from his mate. Not to mention the age difference between him and them. I really liked the relationship between them all and with Grace becoming more aware of what shes capable of in this book i cant wait for the next one. Just to see what happens next. A short but a pretty good read

This is just the beginning of Sun Child, a little snack to tide you over, and by the looks (or words) of things, this story is going to be incredible. This novella nicely knocks out Cade, Knight, and Grace's childhoods. Here we get to see them grow up, so you know the coming story is going to start right at the crux of their destinies. We get to reintroduce ourselves to Daniel, the, now, man that I just want to wrap up in a hug and tell him it will all be okay. We get more information about the prophecy, and a hint about all that awaits our four heroes. It was a great place to pause, and I know the ending is going to blow me away.

Oh my goodness! I need the rest of this story ASAP! Daniel, Knight, Cade, and Grace are growing up and as they have known they were mates since infancy, there are naturally going to be some growing pains. Daniel has been through so much in his life and things are even harder now for him. The pain that they feel at being separated is real and it flies off the pages. This is a short novella, but it is a great set up to what is going to be an amazing book.

Ohh man! This was the sweetest kind of torture. A better person would've waited for part two to come out, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to learn more about Daniel, Cade, Grace and Knight. I just know part two it's going to WRECK my life! This is one of Serena best works!

Brilliant & All Heart!

I didn’t write my review for this book right away, like I normally do. It took me a couple of days. I think I needed to let it sink in, allow the story to settle into all the crevices of my mind, heart and soul. I don’t think I realized how much I missed these characters until I started Sun Child and began reading about their journey once again. It was so incredibly brilliant!

Right off the bat, I love Lara and Todd. Lara is so funny. Her personality comes through so well and Todd is so sweet! And Sabina, Eli, Austin and Ethan are incredible. All so strong, parental and loving. But this isn’t their story. Well, it is, in so much as you can actually see their personalities in their children.

This story focuses on Knight, Cade, Daniel and Grace. Knight is all wolf alpha but he’s tender and loyal and loving too. Cade is so much his parents’ son, especially Todd’s. That kumiho nature in him manifesting even at a young age. Daniel is all about duty and self-sacrifice, all while working through his guilt. And Grace is light and beauty and unbridled emotion.

Oh, and let’s not forget Seth and the insane prophecy and the Secte Rouge and the Mother and the Father. The world building has been so well integrated into the modern, contemporary world that I can imagine going anywhere and finding elements of this world around me.

So this is just the first part of Sun Child. The second part, the ending, is yet to come. In a way, I’m really glad we’re getting this story in two parts. I don’t think I’m ready to let go of these characters just yet. And also, there is just such a depth to this story, a richness to the characters, their journey, and their experience. It goes beyond the typical shifter mythology to create its own unique niche. The profoundness of this story really does warrant time to allow yourself to be fully immersed in this world Serena Akeroyd has created. I loved every second of it.

I have loved this series from book 1. I like seeing the progression from Sabina & her mates and Lara & Todd, to their children. I’m so curious as to what will happen with Grace and how Daniel will finally be when he can be with them all....and Seth. Great job on part 1! Can’t wait for the next book!

This book is an introduction to the world of Cade, Knight, Daniel and Grace. It's a precursor to the big prophecy they have to fulfill and I cant wait to read all about it. In the meantime this book fills in a few details for us. Thoroughly enjoyed it

Wow what a start to what I think is going to be an epic story. Its a prologue (if you like) to the main event which I can not wait for....the relationship between Cade , Knight and Grace is so sweet all that's missing is Daniel being by their sides. There are so many twists in this tale that its going to be a ride and a half when this all comes together in the final installment. Its definitely something to look forward to in 2021.

I can’t believe how emotionally invested I am in these characters, especially Daniel and a bit for Knight from the other two books. However Serena is an absolute genius... in 96 pages she’s managed to leave me with a raging book hangover and needing more of Grace, Cade, Knight and Daniel. I have firm belief that whatever is next is going to be epic, how can it not, with a brilliant beginning that has you hooked from the first sentence.

Not Disappointed at All!!!!

The third installment in this series does not disappoint. It is a novella that introduces us more to the next generation in the saga. I loved Daniel’s Chapter in Moon Child, and the chapter with him in this book were amongst my favorites.

The lore and intricacies of this story is amazing. There are so many moving pieces. As with the previous books, the mythos is original despite it being within the shifter/paranormal genre. Again, I must give a shoot out to Todd, the non-typical male character. He continues to break the mold with his communication with his son.

I look forward to the next installment in this series, and very much look forward to a deeper dive into the relationships of Grace, Knight, Cade, and Daniel.

I freaking knew I shouldn’t have read this. I checked ahead of time and of course, the full book was supposed to be out in 2021 and I KNEW it wasn’t but freaking read it anyway. Ugh. So good, and of course this ended on a huge cliffhanger. Also? I was super confused as we jumped ahead in timelines. I’m getting ahead of myself again.

Grace, Knight, and Cade are fated mates, and they’ve known this since they were small children. Nothing gross, they just don’t like to be apart from each other. Then as they enter their teenage years and continue growing, things become tense. Knight is 9 months older than Grace, who is 9 months older than Cade. And so add in duty and responsibility and special abilities along with teenage feelings and hormones and general frustrations with parents and rules, and Knight messes up. Grace and Cade are pissed and things go array, culminating in the three of them ending up in Nevaehai, The Mother’s land or soul.

We learn a tiny bit about their destiny’s path and about long lost Daniel who is living in New Orleans and has stayed away from his mates as they grow into adulthood. He feels perverse because he’s so much older than them, but that’s the Mother’s will. Aaaaand ended on a huge cliffhanger so now I think I’ll go sob into my pillow after shaking my fist at the sky..

@SerenaAkeroyd what am I supposed to do now? Think about what just happened? Be freaking desperate for the last part of this series or just hit my head because I wanna cry?!

This sequel shows every characters' life-- Lara, Sabina, Daniel, Knight, Cade and Grace. There are moments from Knight, Cade and Grace's childhood shown and with some leaps they finally reach the age of maturity. I can just feel Daniel too much and I'm rooting for his happily ever after. PLEASE DON'T KILL HIM. I'M BEGGING YOU.

The mystery is still hidden, the path is already decided and the 4 of them have to make desicions leading to the best thing they can get with each other.

The one thing I like the most is how Knight isn't shown as the perfect guy since he's Sabina's son. I know he'll get better but for the time being it's refreshing to see the focus being distributed between everyone else and not just on Knight because book 1 & book 2 of this series was based on his mother and fathers.

This is just the beginning and the end is gonna be a blast which I know will keep us at the edge of our seat from where we'll probably fall because of something!

I've already made a favourite and his name is Daniel.♡♡

“But here the three of us were, missing a Musketeer, and we all knew we were fated to be together. The knowledge went deeper than that though, because if that was all I knew, I’d be happy. Finding a mate as a kid was considered to be fortunate.”

Daniel on the run from allegedly killing Seth.

Seth, the brother of Grace who had evil running through his veins.. his death was something that allowed the pack to breathe a little easier. But that didn’t keep him from staying away for years.

Daniel is also the fated mate to Grace, Cade, and Knight. Daniel being 12 years older from the youngest also felt like it was best to keep a distance till his mates were adults.

So, Sun Child is the third book of this series but this is only part A. It skips years and it skips to different POVs but it’s all easily read. I am absolutely fascinated bu this world Serena built up. From the totem and Mother, and I love the fated mates aspect to multiple mates.
And now she’s brought some voodoo evil type of s*** into the mix. I’m obsessed. I really am. As the books continue on, I’m invested even more.
Grace, the Sun Child might be my favorite female yet. She’s different. She doesn’t even understand her complex power.

I can respect this author for not forcing the entire book out when writer block hit. I rather wait for a book she’s confident in, then a rushed out one.
So I’ll be patiently waiting on part two of book three!

Serena Akeroyd hooks us in with her transition from Moon Child to Sun Child part one. We now get a glimpse into the backgrounds, challenges, frustrations and love of the soon to be of age magical shifter mates, who have a pivotal role with destiny. We get to learn more about Daniel, Knight, Cade, and Grace’s personalities and feelings! Will their love and bond survive what's to come? Will they be able to save their world? The reader gets a taste of what's to come with Grace and her mates, her family and shifter community. The suspense continues! Serena sets the story up perfectly for the final challenges to come in the conclusion of the Year of the Wolf series! Love it and can't wait for more!

Well this one really threw me for a loop. First: read this series in order. You’ll be lost (and not in the fun, tv way) if you try and start with this bad boy. I know it’s tempting since the cover on this title is the best in the series, but be strong. Second: unlike the first two in the series, this book is not wrapped up all neat and tidy with a tease of the next couple. Unfortunately, we don’t get to find out what happened to Grace, Daniel, Knight, Cade, and the omnipresent, omni-ominous Seth [insert snake-like voice here].

As far as the tropes for shifter romances/fated mates: this one also broke some of those molds. I was FURIOUS at times with some of Grace’s mates (especially when we see what Knight gets up to with his texting…). The characters are still “underage” (they’re 18, which is still underage per pack law), but that just goes to say there’s a TON of sexual tension. Lovely.

Obviously a novella. I finished this one while making sides during Thanksgiving. I’m very much looking forward to 3B. Gimmegimmegimme.

What an amazing way to start this 3rd installment of the Year of the Wolf! I can't wait for what comes next. In her brilliance Serena Akeroyd once again gives us the perfect cliff hanger to make us want to read the rest. And the promises laid forth here... WOW!

I thought Daniel was going to be my guy... turns out Knight and coming out a head! Grace, Cade, Knight and Daniel, fated at the youngest age... Waiting to finally claim and be claimed! Stay tune for part 2 of this amazing book and the conclusion to this breathtaking series!

Sun Child is the third book in the paranormal series The Year of the Wolf by Serena Akeroyd. This is only part one of the third book, and focuses on Knight, Cade, and Grace's childhood. All three of the children knew that they were destined to be mates for life, and so they have grown up together. We meet them when they are young and then in their teenage years, where they test each other and explore their boundaries. While the three children are constantly around each other, their fourth mate Daniel (who's older than they are) is on the run after a murder. However, things are not as they seem, and the end of this book sets up the second half of the novel beautifully. There is suspense, mystery, and anticipation as we wait for the mates to reunite and to see how they will all uncover and fulfill their destiny.

I loved how Serena Akeroyd wrote this novella and it was done beautifully. We were given a glimpse at the children Cade, Grace and Knight growing up together. We even got to see Daniel as a man and the trials he's been through to get back to his mates.
There were many surprises in this short book that it pulled you in and when you got to the end of Sun Child you just wanted more! Serena Akeroyd has now whetted our appetite for the next installment and for the trials that these four mates are going to have to face. I for one will be first in line to read the next book.

Am going to be honest I love Serena she is a new author to me and every book I have read I loved. She is very good at pulling at the old heart strings.
My heart broke for Daniel 💔 How he felt dirty for Grace and Claudia explaining to him his not. Ahhh I want to learn more

The right of passage is 19 to claim your mate or mates in this cases. Grace, Knight and Cade are not 19 yet but Knight is struggling to control his feelings.
Until this one moment, Knight know he has to be a man for his mates.

The last lines 😨 💔 I can not wait for part 2 Serena !!
Is it 2021 yet????

3/4 to the Solar Noon!

Sun Child could be my favorite yet in this series. Serena Akeroyd is setting the stage for the end of this series while also giving us a great story, this is a solid novella.

I love the pacing of the book and the way the RH relationship dynamic is shaping up with the group. Their internal monologue is done in a way that gives us a glimpse of how an RH can/does work while showing how each person has an important role in the collective.

I'm perched on the edge of my seat waiting patiently for the zenith finale of this series!

Oh my goddess! I am so in love with this latest installment of The Year of the Wolf series!! We are re-introduced to Daniel & Grace, as well as introduced to Cade & Knight. This part takes us through their childhood since when we first met them, they are younglings. That means the second half will take us right into the center of the next level of action with them as young adults. So many times through this reading, I just wanted to snatch Daniel up & hug him to tightly. This world gets better the more times I get to visit. Now I'm waiting eagerly but patiently for the next half.

I really liked the book! It's great to see them all grown up. I hope they'll get their HEA in the second part. This was the beginning of an amazing story and I can't wait to see more of Daniel. The author did the characters justice in her own way and made it possible to see them transition from childhood to adulthood in such a perfect way. I really liked watching them grow and getting strong and proud of who they are.

Fated Mates

Imagine when you are little knowing your best friends, plus one more are your mates. Crazy, but you would never have to worry who you will end up with. Even though this is a novella before the full story it sets up Grace, Cade, Knight sand most especially Daniel’s story. It’s a perfect appetizer before the main course. I have a feeling things are going to get so much more intense as their story continues.
